We recently finished a kitchen remodeling job with John Maffei of Tri-Star Cabinets on Baker Hill, and the contractor they recommended, Joe Wasler of Bayern Builders. Both companies have done a great job.

The cabinets are really beautiful. Tri-star does custom cabinets for about the same price as Home Depot's better lines, and I have to say, custom is better. The workmanship on the cabinets is just amazing. They are constructed in a factory in New Lenox, IL, so what you're not spending on shipping you're getting in the quality of the cabinets. John did a great job of measuring a complicated job, and everything went together well. Of course, the installers were magicians!

Joe has done a great job of coordinating the subs, each of whom has done excellent work. The most important part of what a general contractor does is orchestrate the subcontractors, and Joe has a flock of really high quality subs. Since they started work, there has been something taking place almost every day. He kept the job moving, and has dealt very well with all the inevitable little things that have arisen. Once, the timing required very tight scheduling among several of the subcontractors, and Joe pulled it off, and got us back into our kitchen several days earlier than we expected. He and his crew did a great job of cabinet installation, trim carpentry, and the rest of the carpentry work. I would definitely recommend both companies.
