I am finally over shipping my tax information to my old preparer in California ( he has helped 3 generations of spacies)...Looking for someone new...Had a recommendation of someone in Wheaton (can't remember their name off hand)...looking to see who you all use.

I use a guy in Wood Dale that has prepared the taxes of 8 generations of Clamato's.

Have never met the man face-to-face (I FedEx everything)...but he was my Dad's business accountant.

I use ME. I'm a CPA. Big Grin I'd be happy to help you if you're interested. And I will do it for cheap.

I use Bob Rehbock at KPMG in Bannockburn. He has been great. He costs about $350.

Jen, is that high?

Just what I need, Jen from the BB investigating GE Fan's private finances. Talk about going from total anonymity to full disclosure.

Quick question though, can I write off part of my garage now that you lived in it, some dogs are boarded in it and it is a receptacle for GGBB husbands in the dog house? Just curious.

Is there client/CPA priviledge? If not, would be cool to see Spacie's return on this site. Just a thought.

That sounds pretty high to me. It depends on the complexity of the return.

Hand over your soul, GE Fan. Just wait until I post a link to your 1040 for all the BBers to see. Nothing to hide, Fan. We're all family here. Big Grin

'Fraid not, Fan unless you used your garage for your business. Due to the fact that your garage is a SLUM, the IRS is not going to buy that you do work there. Pets cannot be considered dependents. And definitely your BB pal Jen could not be considered a dependent either. You could've tried for head of household status, but you would've had to knock off your wife by December 31st. Also you'd be pretty screwed there, as I was not your dependent for more than 1/2 the year. I'll be sending over my invoice for this session...it'll be $500. Big Grin

KPMG blows. I used to work there. I also worked at Ernst & Young. They're much better than KPMG.

hmmmmmmmmmm....my favorite old boss used to work for Deloitte & Touche.....

My worst boss EVER was also a controller...and did taxes on the side...but she was a serious drunken crack whore....seriously....I have some hilarious stories about that harley riding, mad drunk, drug taking, weird sex having accountant!

Jen....I will think on it...if not this year then maybe next...as long as I convince Mr Spacie that you are not anything like boss number 2...he had to work with her too...

when i said "HEY! Jen said she'd do our taxes" He was like..."Shelly" did taxes on the side too....And then I was like..."I am SURE there aren't a bunch of mad crazy drinking accountants on the loose"....but he was unconvinced...

Not unless you are unmarried and you provide more than 1/2 the support of a dependent. You can also claim head of household if you care for an elderly parent, even if they don't live with you. But for that, you have to be unmarried as well. I would say that you are married, filed jointly with one mac n cheese eating dependent. Big Grin

I guess we're kind of spoiled. Our accountant comes out to the house and collects info and does a preliminary at the dining room table. Then he brings the finished return back out to the house about a week later. Not bad for $120. And our return is not a simple one. He retired this past year, but will continue to do ours. Smile

Thanks jen,

I was aware the supporting an elderly parent, but it was never clear to me that you had to be unmarried...

can I do a partial claim on my next mac n cheese eating dependent for TY05? As of 12/31/05 they are 5/9 cooked in '05...

We go to Michael Mahoney,CPA on Roosevelt in Wheaton. He's very reasonable and quick.
