If any of you are as interested in the historic (70+ year old) houses in Glen Ellyn, you might want to check out the following website to see if your home model is there. It shows original ads for the different models of the houses with a picture and floor plans. It is interesting to see how some Glen Ellyn houses have been changed from the original looks with add ons and modifications over the years - some good and some bad (we discovered some bad changes made to ours). I have seen probably 40% of the models from this website in Glen Ellyn.
Click on the estimated year at left and then all the models for those style houses will come up and look through some, I am sure you will recognize many styles (bungalows, four-squares, cape cods, colonials, etc) and see the variations of the different models.

I too am the proud owner of a classic seventies split. I figure that the split will become the trendy house to buy at some point in time- we will just have to wait for our turn
