Yes, used them on the last house I bought and rented. Didn't want anything too high-end in the house, so figured I would try IKEA. All-in-all, it was a good decision and the kitchen ended up selling the house.
Their in-store designer helped us measure out and figure out what cabinetry we needed, and ordered everything, including the countertop subcontractor. The two cabinet installers they sent us did an excellent job: efficient, helpful attitudes, good at executing little adjustments we asked for. The only trouble was a few cabinet parts that did not arrive correctly and had to be re-ordered. The end result is quite attractive and we were very happy with our choices (despite a few minor imperfections). Throw in Ikea's low low prices, and it was an amazingly good deal.
We got in ahead of the curve before Ikea's kitchen design services were really 'discovered' and since then we've heard that their services are always backlogged. But if you like what you see in their showrooms in terms of style and amenities, and can budget the necessary timetable, I think you'll end up satisfied customers.
thanks gering! just a few more questions...which ikea? and how long ago? did they do any electrical or floor work for you? they say they can set you up with everything you need. i am looking for a respectible kitchen at a low price...thanks again!
I want to say it was about 4 years ago, maybe a little longer. We had to do other work on the house, so we already had someone contracted for the electrical and the floors, but I believe they would have contracted that for us if we needed it.
The best part was when I was showing the house, I had a woman that asked if the cabinets were Poggenpohl from Germany!
Poggenpohl?! Get out! see, i have champagne taste....and a paying for college checkbook. i really appreciate your responses...this just might be the way to go right now...the kitchen i have (16 years old and counting) is FALLING APART!! thanks again!
