Anyone bought anything from Young's? We're looking into updating our kitchen and Laundry Room and wondering how they compare to bigger retailers like Best Buy.

All my appliances came from Young's. Their prices are usually the same or lower than Best Buy. Plus they offer great service.
When we bought a slew of appliances a few years back, I did the ABT, Soukup's, Young comparison. Young's was about $100 higher than ABT and they were local. That was a no-brainer. Have since bought other things there. They are competitive and do a nice install job. Good service, also, when something gets busted.
Not much wiggle room in that industry with regard to price from what I have experienced.

I buy all my appliances from Young's, even for rental properties in and around Glen Ellyn.
You will pay more than the 'big box' places, this is a given. But what you get in return regarding customer service is well worth the extra cost.
Case in point, I had bought a middle-of-the-road stainless steel stove for a house I re-did about 6-months ago. I was showing it to potential buyers who noticed a small scratch on the door (it was almost not noticeable in most light). I told Young's and the next day, I had a new stove in place. Can't beat them.
It pays off for them in the end. For example, the people that noticed the scratch bought the house and heard the story and bought their fridge, washer and dryer from Young's.
We trust Youngs so much that we never shop around, but simply go there first and save time. The scratch story is not unusual for them. They really stand by their sales and the customer comes first.

Your timing was great. We were about to head up to ABT this weekend to check out a new washer and dryer. Now we will save ourselves the trip, and just get them from Youngs. In the past, we just assumed we'd get everything from Abt. I like their pricing, but there was nothing overwhelming about the service. It was fine, I guess. But we had to schlep all the way up there to pick out our stuff - with three kids in tow.
jeff, their repair guy, does a GREAT job. and their prices are really the same as best buy, expo, et. al. this is one place where buying local IS a no brainer.
After getting advice from this board, and shopping around a bit, I bought a washer/dryer from Youngs - great service both at the store and installation. Then I got a fridge - again, great sales and service. As I recall, pricing was competitive, and now I don't even bother shopping around.

If we can get something at Youngs (or Soukups), then we do.
Case in point. Our gas stove is something like 10+ years old now. A summer ago, one side wouldn't light. I cleaned it, it still didn't work, and called Youngs to ask what a service call would run. The first question they asked was if we bought it there. When he realized that we had, he offered to either walk me through the repair over the phone, or send someone out. Turns out what he suggested over the phone worked, but I had the idea they probably would have charged very little or nothing to come over to take a look.
