Doe anyone have a local tailor they like? I have a blazer jacket that has alot of life left, but need to be re-lined. Any suggestions?

I, too, am looking for a good local tailor. I had a VERY bad experience with the tailor on Duane just West of Main; VERY sloppy work, I often had to have things re-done.

The guy on Pennsylvania seems to be OK - he altered a jacket and hemmed some pants for me, but there too, he just seemed competent.

I once had an overcoat re-lined by a high-end tailor in Downtown Chicago, and they did a good job, but it seems as though the tailors are either inexpensive alterations shops, or expensive tailors.

I have tried a tailor on Wheaton who seemed to be ok, but again, not stellar.

This is a TOUGH one. Like finding a leather repair person who will repair a bag without simply putting it under the sewing machine and running rows of sloppy stitches...

Let me know if you find someone...

Try the Menswearhouse in Danada. They have some talent on staff (not all, but some)

If that doesn't work out, try the hot dog man, he seems to have a lot of down time on Mondays Wink

We, too had a bad experience with the tailor on Duane just west of Main. Look under the shopping/retail thread above. A tailor over by Yorktown got thumbs up from a few posters. Smile

Joe's in Yorktown is wonderful. They are located on the north side near the deli and Carson's furniture store. They always do a great job.
