Looking for recommendations for a pulmonary specialist for my son (6). He has a weird breathing "tick" so to speak (deep breaths every four or five breaths), and I would like a specialist to run it to ground. Already saw our GP and he didn't find anything odd (chest X-ray also). So whatever it is, it isn't obvious.

My children have CF and see Dr. Lucille Lester at the Univ of Chicago Hospital (she also has hours once a month at a satellite location in Palos Heights.) We've been with her for 9 years and love her! You can find a 'bio' on her at http://www.uchicagokidshospital.org/physicians/lucille-lester.html

I hope your son's ok - good luck!

I'll ask my Dr. husband when he's conscious. Big Grin

My husband worked with Dr. Naveed Akhtar at Hope Children's Hospital (Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn). He found him to be quirky but brilliant. An excellent doctor. Also, friends of ours almost lost their little boy a few years ago because of a rare genetic condition and Dr. Akhtar was the one who figured it out. Here is a link to his information.

That would be one hell of a coincidence.

You have the right one.

I thought I had the right one and since their names are so darned similar, I'm not going to thrash myself with a wet noodle. Smile

Middlein,
Our friends whose son was saved by Dr. Javeed were featured tonight on Primetime: Medical Mysteries - You Be the Doctor.

You can watch it here.
