So we have this problem with yelowjackets in our eves, or so we hope. The hole they access might also lead to a wall cavity (worst case).
Any experience with exterminators for this problem? Mrs. GE58 is very chemical sensitive and is worried that she'll get sick following a treatment near the house.
We had a three foot high hive in our walls between some studs. Could hear them chewing on the drywall at night. Dude came out, stuck some needles through the wall and they all died. Lemme see if I can find the name.

Are you sure they are yellowjackets, they are more likely carpenter bees...which have been very bad in this area the past three years, typically drill into eaves, often mistaken as yellowjackets. How to Rid Carpenter Bees
When all else fails call Bugs Anonymous. I have been using them for the past 5 years since I moved here( whats with the centipedes in Glen Ellyn?). All people with allergies and pets are doing fine. Hi all. We made an appointment with Midwest Exterminators for this afternoon. I'll let you know how this works itself out. There is a chance we'll have to move out of the house as upon closer inspection, this thing might be the size of a volkswagon. The last time we had this done the problem was a bald faced hornet nest and the Orkin guy was so affraid of them that he almost didn't want to begin the work. And that was in a tree. This is somewhere inside our house.
Update. So Midwest had to come out again a couple weeks later to re-visit the problem areas. That seemed to work. Kinda. Then other nests were found that were just as bad or worse. So Terminex was called out, and they also failed to kill the nests, but GE58 wife has been very allergic ever since the poison was applied to so many areas. So, here we are almost two months later and two companies, not better, not worse. Short of tearing the house down, we might be out of options.
So today, Orkin called back to ask "was the problem solved to your satisfaction?" I was stunned. Orkin was the first company we called. An appointment was made and they never showed up. They didn't even call to reschedule or cancel. We had called them a few days later and asked what happened? Another appointment was made for the next day and again they failed to show up. Today they seemed so interested in how the problem was solved. Nice customer service, eh? First and best way to gain customers... show up.
