We've used Feldco twice, for several windows and a patio door - we were really impressed with the quality and installation. Everyone we dealt with was very professional. Good luck!

We've replaced the windows in our last two houses.
The first time we bought windows where the bottom half slid up, and/or the top half could slide down. Being able to slide the top half down on a warm day was great... heat rises and all that, so so the heat that rose to the ceilings flowed out the windows and kept the rooms cool.
Unfortunately, on our present house we saved a few bucks by getting windows where only the bottom half opens. The top half of every window is permanently sealed.
So — now — as the day heats up, the upper half of each room quickly gets warm. There's nothing we can do about it but close all the windows and turn on the air conditioning.
I don't recall any brand names... but just make sure the top half opens as well as the bottom half.
Oh — if you have a “sunny side” — triple pane with a mylar layer between the two panes of glass is great... allows the light in but keeps the heat rays out.

We just replaced our over the last 2 years. We went the vinyl replacement route. We used Illinois energy Services for some of them. They are on the high side but the did an excellent job. We also used one of my neighbors, Joe Cimaglia I felt the windows he used were of similar quality but he was a lot cheaper. His warranty is not as long ( I can dig up his number if you want it). Several of my neighbors have also used Schmidts. I did by a Pella slider with the blinds in it. we love it.

We used Home Depot vinyl replacement windows. They make the house a lot less drafty, didn't cost much, were ready quickly, installed in one day (zero degree February day). The downside is they look vinyl. And they do cut down on the amount of window glass. For eleven windows, it cost about $4500. We also used HD for patio door replacement; this time, got Anderson. We are very happy.

Replaced our 23 windows using Feldco, and we couldn't be happier with the installation and service received by Feldco. We were the guinea pigs in the neighborhood, but since our installation, there have been 5-6 houses with windows replaced by Feldco. Clean, neat, and very careful installation. Good Luck.
