We are moving to Glen Ellyn this week and I need to find a pediatrician. I have a 4 year old, 2 year old, and 6 month old -- so someone is always sick in my house!
Any feedback on Dr. David Morris at the Glen Ellyn Clinic? I was able to get an appointment with him for my 4 year old since he needs a physical ASAP before preschool starts.
I'd love any advice you have on good pediatricians in town.
When we moved here 12-13 years ago we took our oldest to the Glen Ellyn Clinic. After the first year we realized it was not for us. The revolving door mentality was too much for us. If you had any questions, were uncomfortable with something, or wanted a little more face time...you were screwed. I, personally, cannot recommend the GE Clinic. Others will most definitely disagree with me.
We ended up at Wheaton Pediatrics (this practice may or may not be closed to new patients)...found a genius doctor...Dr. Grunenwald...who has since retired after having her 23rd child (maybe it wasn't that many). She was replaced by an even more genius Dr. by the name of Joseph Christensen. He left after a few years to work at a practice in Glen Ellyn. Wheaton Pediatrics is a much better solution than the GE Clinic...IMHO.
I gave my son the task of making the decision for himself where he would like to go. He could go to Wheaton Clinic where he had gone since about day one...or follow his doctor to the new practice. He chose to follow Dr. Christensen. I was happy with his decision as this guy is very good at what he does.
He is located in the doctor's office adjoining HealthTrack off of 53 and Roosevelt. The number is 790-1555.
Welcome to Bedford Falls. I hope you enjoy your stay.
I think I might agree with you regarding the GE Clinic. I waited on hold for over 10 minutes just to talk to someone and then wasn't treated very nice when I said I had a few questions about the practice. But, they were able to get me an appointment in only 2 weeks.
Thanks for the recommendation to Dr. Christensen. I'll give the office a call.
Anyone familiar with Dr. Kenneth Lee at the Glenbard Family Practice on Duane and Park? I'm not sure how I feel about a Family Practice versus a Pediatrics office though...
My husband goes to Dr Lee and likes him quite a bit. I use Dr Ellens and like her as well. My husband refused to try Dr Ellens...guess it's that annual test that concerned him.
Dr. lee, dr. ellens...dr. lobue, dr. ha (he's the newest dr. there) ...they're all nice and take their time with you. i've never used anyone else, and it's nice when the whole family (including the parents) goes to the practise...also, dr. lobue has been there for many years, followed by dr. lee. dr. lee is esp. good with older boys...good luck. bedford falls...right!
I personally see Dr. Ellens, who is wonderful, and my kid (now 19) sees Dr. Lee. We've been going there for years, and we both absolutely love them. Dr. Lee is great with kids! I love the fact that we rarely get stuck waiting for 30 minutes or more - I hate when doctors do that.

Edited to add: I forgot to mention that the ladies at the front desk and billing are very friendly as well.
Since no one else is sticking up for it, I guess I have to. Me and fam (4 & 1) have gone to the Glen Ellyn Clinic for 4 years now with no negatives to speak of. You can get in pretty quickly and it is very close. As an added bonus, once the new building is finished you will be able to get up to a high rate of speed on Western Ave. before you whip into the parking lot.
We have never gone to GE Clinic but know many who have and we have never heard anything but positives about it. We, however, stuck with the pediatricians we had in Elmhurst, from which we moved to Glen Ellyn in 2001. They are only about a 15 minute drive, they take our HMO insurance, and have always been very good and a very stable practice. The practice is called Elmhurst Pediatrics, there are maybe five docs in the practice and with the exception of adding a new one a few years ago the MD personnel has not changed. They have a 'hotline" where you can call and speak to a nurse if you have any questions or concerns, they don't rush you through appointments, if someone is sick they get you in same day (incl Saturdays), and their advice is good, and pragmatic. We have always been happy. Good luck finding someone, and I will second the "Welcome to Bedford Falls' comment.

"Me" have gone to the clinic for four years? Living so far south . . . why didn't you look into Wheaton Pediatrics while the practice was still open to new patients?
I'm adding my recommendation for Dr. Christensen and Dr. Distefani (sp?) the other Dr. at the Healthtrack location. Only two Dr.s so you're more likely to see someone who actually knows you and has seen your child before - a growing issue in some practices. The office staff are pleasant and the nurses are very good. We have seen both of the doctors now and followed Dr. Christensen from Wheaton Peds.
Like the Dan the Man family, we have used the Glen Ellyn Clinic peds for years. I have no complaints. Never had a problem getting the kids in to be seen or getting answers to questions.
And, yes, the parking lot emptying onto Western makes for an exciting trip.
Welcome to Glen Ellyn Dayna and family. I'm sure you will be happy here.
