I know this has been an issue before, but this is just a bit of a warning for those with small pets in the Main St. Recreation Center Area. There is at least one Coyote, a large and very healthy looking one, hunting in the area of the Main St. Rec. Center. I saw him in my backyard about three weeks ago, and again about 8:00 AM Monday, when he was devouring a large rabbit he had just caught. My horrified nextdoor neighbor phoned to call my attention to it. She has a small dog, which I'm guessing will not be allowed out of the house for the next year or so.

Be careful Deadeye. I live near the "Bog", where we thought we had learned to peacefully coexist with these creatures. Yet, two evenings ago, a neighbor was approached while walking her small dog. The coyote turned back at the last minute, but just the fact that it got that close to her is worrisome. They seem to be a little less intimidated by humans these days.

There was one trotting along the west side of Lambert just south of Foxcroft this morning. Cute little guy. I almost stopped thinking it was a stray.

Thanks for the Heads-up. I have 2 little ones and easily I think one could be dinner, whilst the other one would probably fight and maybe even easily kill the Coyote. Nasty little dog! I do not want to witness any of that. I try to go out with them or make noise. I hope that still is the fact and I can shoo them off.

Poor guy has to live in that dangerous place?!

If a tree falls on a coyote and no one is around to hear, does it make a sound?

Nika, Village of Glen Ellyn:
ord. 5352, 4-25-2005:
Number of permitted dogs and cats: it is unlawful for more than three (3) dogs or cats or any combination thereof, to be housed within the village. Smile

Seriously, kk?? Why does the village limit the amount of pets in a household?

Probably to prevent a roving pack that attacks the neighbors.

I could understand (to a degree, anyway) not more than a certain number of dogs or cats, but a combination of them?? So if I have two cats, I could only have one dog? Are they afraid the cats are going to run with the dogs and kill people or what?

Did you ever see what can happen in a town that does not have such a rule. I don't know how strictly it's enforced here in GE, but you really don't want to live next door to someone with 30 cats (or 5 dogs).

I believe every town has a limit, mostly 3, only 2 of one spieces. I remember for decades most towns do this - and THANK GOD!!!!!! and I don't care WHY... Now it needs to be enforced! Nika if your neighbor has 5 dogs, he better have a good reason, unless he's unincorporated, in which I don't know how DuPage County handles it. My brother who is barely out of village limits tried to put up a 'chicken coup' and the County brought the hammer down on that one real quick! Needs 3+ acres for that kind of thing.

Honestly, if my neighbor takes care of the animals and they're not bothering me, why is it even my business how many he or she has?

If my neighbor is NOT taking care of the animals, that's what the ASPCA/Animal Control is for, no?

Backyard Chickens

Funny someone mentioned a chicken coup- getting to be a big deal around the nation- and a big zoning battle. Oddly enough, always been legal in Naperville on SF residential properties. Also I think legal in Wheaton but in certain circumstances for breeding of rare breeds.

If this doesn't turn out to be the long awaited recovery I'm gettin' a coup.

The biggest problem with chicken coups is that they tend to have no idea how to govern once they seize power...

Whew . . . two cats, one dog here. I didn't realize our household was toeing the line.

I have three kids too - Is there any kind of an ordinance on that that I should be aware of?

That's my point, Mama. Thank you! I've only got one cat, but if I lived in a house rather than an apartment I can assure you that I'd have at least 2 dogs as well....add my two kids in there and I'm WAY over the limit!

Is it just me, or is it mildly disturbing that they call the company Omelet??
