I love all God's creatures...even Clamato...but I cannot allow the neighbors dogs to poop all over my lot anymore. I want a dog, my kids want a dog, but I am not willing to tax my multi-tasking by one more task...Please remember that even though it may be a parkway, I still maintain it and would appreciate one less pile of crap to contend with in my life. Don't forget your scooper next time...and just so you know I can still see what your doing...you're not invisible in the dark.

Now I feel better!

That's why God invented those convenient plastic grocery bags.

Put hand in...pick up turd...tie up bag.

I love watching people that walk dogs that actually carry gigantor-sized pooper scoopers around with them. So convenient. Hilarious.

Okay, since we are on this rather unappetizing subject may I get some opinions please? My daughter and I walk, with the dog, several miles per night. I always clean up after the little pooper (dog, not daughter) using the method so eloquently described by Clamato. My question to you as the homeowner - would you be offended if I threw the bag out in your garbage can? I know how attached you are all to your cans in Glen Ellyn. I HATE carrying a bag of crap for miles but feel uncomfortable using someone's trash can. Of course, I would only make a deposit if the can is easily accesible and visible from the sidewalk. I look forward to your creative responses.

You may make a deposit in my can on garbage day, when it is on public display at my curb. It may even keep away curiousity seekers wanting to check out the contents of my largest-on-the-block can!

Having 2 dogs myself, I've also wrestled with this problem. Luckily, in GE there are usually enough tear-downs/additions going on that there are plenty of dumpsters to be found. I never hesitate to use them, but have stopped short of using other people's cans. I remember the shock I had a few weeks ago on a Monday morning while putting one last thing in my garbage before work and discovering that my neighbor had put a headless chipmunk in there. (They have 2 outdoor cats that are prolific hunters. "Trophys" of headless mice and birds are left for all to admire.) I would think my reaction to that might be similiar to someone finding a pile of dog doo in their own can.

That is politically o.k. in my book...heck, if ya knocked on the door and asked me to dispose of it I would politely direct you to my can.

This irritates me! My dog is sent out in our fenced-in back yard to poop BEFORE we walk. However as a good dog owner, I alwaays carry my plastic bags. It isn’t hard. It is called respect for others!

Wow, did not mean to offend you Somwhere. I do, however, resent the implication that I do not have respect for others. I, too am a "good" dog owner. Do you give your dog fiber to make he/she so regular? Believe me, the majority of my dogs deposits are in my fenced in back yard, however, there is an occasional deposit on our walks. I have taught my dog to sit, stay and shake but she has yet to master the poop command.

You did not offend me at all, in fact I am completely on your side. What upsets me are people who do not pick up after their dog. There are quite a few in my neighborhood that simply don't pick up after their dogs. My only trick to my dog's schedule is that I wait until he poops and then walk him.

Somewhere, I too get upset by owners not picking up after their dogs. My dog seems to have an endless supply. I am not proud of this one, however, I once watched my neighbors very large dog defecate in my front yard. Under the cover of darkness, I picked up the deposit in a Jewel bag and hung the bag on the drivers side mirror of his car. Not my proudest moment but I was tired of stepping in crap everytime I mowed the lawn.

We have a dog across the street...we refer to him as the prisoner (family rarely pays attention to it)...well, occassionally the prisoner breaks out and, through no fault of his own, poopies in our front yard. The neighbor knows he did it yet doesn't feel the need to pick it up.

So...when they leave, I give it back to them. Usually on the bottom of their front stairs, in their driveway, etc.

Dogs are not the problem, owners are. This dog, a lumbering yellow lab, is friendly enough. Comes to our door looking for biscuits (I believe my mother started him on this habit while I am away at work. Must get better daytime help.) I now let the moose in our house to take a break from the mundane life he must be leading. He plays with our ancient, out of warranty chocolate lab. 2 labs in a sub-2,000 sqaure foot house. Not a good idea.

He has taken to peeing on one of our bushes and given the chilly relationship we have with its owners...I am letting it slide...and letting the bush die.

Are they Brits? I cannot imagine anyone giving the Clam the cold shoulder...I agree, it's not the dog, it's definately the owner. Moron's like your neighbor should not be allowed to have pets. On the other hand, I think your mother is a kind and generous woman who likes to take care of everyone. Then you let him in the house...whatta guy! At least he's peeing on the bush and not on the couch.

Thanks for the info Westie...Not too expensive to keep relationships friendly...then again, just like soiled diapers...what else is a Jewel or Dominicks plastice bag good for besides poop?

M2C - I was rather proud of my rebellious action regarding the wayward dog. I really am a rebel. I live near a park and people constantly throw garbage in my yard; chip bags, candy wrappers etc.. I walk outside, pick up the garbage and either stuff it in their open window or stick it under the windshield wiper. The level one must stoop to in order to have some excitement in the burbs.

You ain't nothin' till you pick up an employee-discarded cigarette butt and toss it back to its owner in a local jewelry store.

Now that's eco justice.

BTW...it was a friend, not me.
