Coming up for air from a world of hurt to ask a practical question. Does anyone know of a place that sells decent urns (I think that is what they are called) to store the remains from a dog? When a dog is cremated and the owner wants to keep the remains for sentimental reasons, what are the options?
Oh, so sorry, CLE. Unfortunately, I think Clam and Gus might have some insight for you too....I'll keep your family in our thoughts and prayers.

They had a lot of urns to choose from, and the cemetery itself is beautiful. (Probably more people visit the graves of their dearly departed pets than their relatives.) Actually I had my cat's remains put in an inexpensive container there, and I have that container inside a beautiful antique vase. I'm very sorry for your loss.
Sorry about the dog, CLE. One of the worst things that I have had to do in my life. It's one thing when the powers that be upstairs make the decision for a family member, but having to make the decision yourself for a pet....sucks.
Coveted, with the others, very sorry for your loss.
What we did was kept the ashes in the bag/box thing they arrived in for a while, and about a week or two later found a well-suited piece of glazed pottery at an art fair. It was dumb luck we ran into it, really. BTW, there's an art fair at Lake Ellyn coming up soon, but don't know if there will be a booth with something like that.
