Good topic, but I must confess. I too am a good dog owner and take my dog for walks, but there is the occasional time (at night), that my dog will take more than one....hmmm....dump and I only brought one bag (of course this has only happened once). Now I would go back to pick it up, but has anyone ever tried finding poop in the dark? And some of you would say, bring a flashlight, but next thing you know, I got a shotgun pointing at me. No thanks.

So I am really sorry to the owners of the house I did it to about a year ago.

My parents perfected the poop pick up after living in a condo for a year where they were forced to shadow their dog instead of letting it poop in private (since they no longer had a yard). They carry one plastic bag and multiple latex serial killer style gloves. That way they just pick the poop up (while gloved!) and take off the glove around the deposit. They then place the poop package in the sack for a nice double bagged effect.
I think this would work very well for people like Clam who may need some extra gloves to mask their prints for a spur of the moment nefarious purpose!

I too am a responsible pet owner and always pick up my dogs poop. Even if I don't have a bag- I have used a kleenex- (that was a gross walk home) We have found that our dog poops much smaller amounts when we feed him Eukanuba lamb and rice- he eats less and poops less. This may be an expensive option for those big dogs- but I don't like to clean up that stuff any more than I have to and the extra cost is worth it to me.

All I keep thinking about is the landfills full of little doggie deposits from here until eternity....hmmm. Interesting, isn't it? Let's say our human population is virtually obliterated from earth but the empty shell is left...hundreds, neigh, thousands of years from now, some alien population will begin to excavate and determine that these little (or big - depends on the dog) round, hard, blackish-brown blobs must have held great importance to our society since we wrapped them so tightly as to preserve them. Don't you think? Big Grin

LOL!!! I can just imagine in a future time someone proudly displaying my dog's poop on a coffee table as an object of art! Your posting will make picking up after him a little more pleasant!!

Amy, just think if those aliens visited Earth today. Who would they conclude was master -- the one on the end of the leash making the deposit or the one on the other end cleaning up after it and toting the deposit home?! Wink

Only on this board could we take a simple request and bend, shape and move it into the future of crap and those who clean it up.

P.S. JKoral...it takes a mighty big person to first of all confess to such a deed and then apologize for it...your sin has been forgiven in my book.

Thanks for your forgiveness. Trust me, it will not happen again. Now if I can only keep my dog from catching squirrels on walks. New topic.

Hey! I was thinking...these precious lumps of pooh could end up crytalizing - kind of like amber and we could call it shitite! Razz Future generations will make JEWELRY out of it!
