Anyone check out or hear anything about what appears to be a new vet in town? Passed it the other day walking down Forest, on the block S of Duane. In one of those little bungalows directly E of the Methodist church. "St Francis Veterinary Clinic" I believe was the name. The sign says something like "an interactive approach." Any idea what that means? I have to stick the thermometer where?
I am going there tonight and was thrilled to find a holistic practice in the area. I have 14 and 15 year old dogs. An interactive, or holistic, approach to animal care means (to me) that you don't look at one condition and treat just that condition. It's the same, to me, as what they call integrative medicine for humans-- you don't box the patient into x condition and y medication--you look at the whole being, cause and effect and how all sorts of factors might be leading to a condition. Diet, exercise and quality of home are huge factors in an animal's health. With interactive or holistic medicine you learn about proactive measures to nurture and support health, rather than the more typical medical approach of exclusively treating illness. You don't have to worry about sticking a thermometer anywhere! I'll post here on how it went.
