i would like a pot belly pig as a pet but my mom and dad do not know if it is alowed.so do any of you people out ther know if a potbelly pig is alowed as a pet in Glen Ellyn?
I'm guessing no. My brother tried chickens and was told by the county -County mind you-that you need 3 acres. Don't know if that is still true but for farm animals you may need some shelter and a big yard. Brother is in unincorpoated Glen Ellyn toward Lombard and has maybe 1 -2 acres and it was a no-go.
My co-worker had a so-called potbellied pig(I think) and it swelled to hundreds of pounds. Could not see out it's eyes his face was so fat. She lived on over 3 acres in Wheaton. But it could not hurt to look up ordances. I think our online ordinances are searchable. Good luck!

I imagine that your neighbors would complain and eventually your family would be the most unpopular ones in the neighborhood. Drive on I80 through central Iowa and sniff the pig poo before you go any further!
I would just call the Village offices and find someone to answer your question. I've known a few people who owned pot-bellied pigs and they loved them. They make less mess than a lot of pets.

If you don't have hardwood floors...give it a go. I knew someone that owned one...long story short, floors didn't take kindly to the pig feet.
Also, there are pig rescue places allll over the place. Look one up. These things are like the bunnies people give their kids on easter. Once the initial thrill is gone, they have to go somewhere. And apparently, these things are not edible as one would think...which kind of sucks. Had there been a silver lab rescue...I'd have gone that route.

My question is, why would the guy try in the first place to even start and pig farm when there was a/is a village well established in the first place? I see the Village winning in this one.
