Interesting. It's not so much a moustache as a goatee... it's on his chin, under his mouth... (Cheap excuse to post another picture...)
It's a good thought, though. We'll have to look into famous goatees.
Edited after a closer look... Oops. The curse of 20/80 eyesight. My wife pointed out that, yes, he does indeed have a moustache under his nose. An itty-bitty one, but it's there, nonetheless. I stand corrected.

Riiiiight. I wasn't gonna say anything until someone else mentioned it first. The new cat does have that little black mustache thing going on. Might just be a candidate for this contest?
He --(well, "it," technically)-- is now ... ***drum roll*** ... ***cymbal crash*** ... "Oliver."
Sorry to report that no GEBBer will be invoiced for the naming rights; that honor goes to a Mrs. C.P. of Stratford, Connecticut.
Several reasons foe the choice, the two most important of which are:
1. "Oliver" comes from the Latin for "Olive Tree," from which come olive branches, which are the universal symbol for a peace offering. On the one hand, the world can always use a bit more peace. On the other, Oliver and our dog have both accepted each other and are getting along just fine-and-dandy, thank you.
2. Perhaps more important -- all suggested names were tested by our highly scientific and technically advanced Cat Response Laboratory. "Oliver" is the first name the critter actually responded to (well, he lifted his head and looked at us) when called. He has since actually come to us when called... twice. Complete with a simultaneous "Meow!" Downright amazing for a four-month old cat.
Thanks, everybody, for your fine suggestions. They'll go in the file for next time. Best! --Ted E.

Please let me know if you know of anyone interested in getting a kitten. There is a stray kitten in my yard. It is beautiful and playful and really needs a home. This kitten really does deserve a home.
