Has anyone noticed the abundance of what I think are hawks soaring about?
These seem to be white, like hanging out on telephone poles and such, and tend to hover over a given area. I saw one doing the rounds over Lambert and Roosevelt a few weks ago, and am seeing them acoss Naperville and DuPage Co. in general. What are these? Are there more or am I just noticing them more? I'm no bird watcher, but do enjoy seeing large birds in flight (herons are beautiful), and if these birds in particular are reducing any mice or rats, then, all the better! There are many hawks over the area. Due to the wildlife protected area at Village Links between Park and Lambert, many of the hawks live in and around the golf course.

Frequently see a redtail over at Western Acres as well.
And kestrels are not uncommon along the paririe path (tho certainly not large). I'm fortunate to regularly see peregrines out my Chicago office window. Raptors are cool! |

We saw a bird of prey eating a squirrel in a tree in Mike's backyard last year...or the year before. Warmed my heart.
