I am looking for assistance. I need a place to have my dog groomed. She is a 6 month old Shih Tzu and needs a haircut since I can't even see her eyes!!!! I used to take her to a place in Glen Ellyn but it is no longer working out. The groomer is very very nice but has told me that she will only do a total buzz cut on my little pup and I want her to have some fur!!! I tried Petsmart and the job done wasn't quite what I was hoping for, not the quality level I wanted. Does anyone have a suggestion or have a place they go that they really like? If you don't mind posting prices that you pay too, that would be helpful as I am on a budget!
I used to use the place right by Glendale Animal Hospital. They charged about 45 dollars for my shih tzu. They always did a great job. I got busy and my dog needed a doo badly so I took him to Petsmart in Danada- I was surprized that they also charged about 45 for a Shih tzu- I thought they would be less than a little shop- I like mine shaved pretty close with just a plum tail- their hair grows so fast with this cut I can get by with 4 or 5 haircuts a year. I think I will be heading back to the groom behind the vet.

My shih tzu grandpuppy (now 18 years) likes Classy Canine Creations on Hill Ave just before,the College Ave train station. (Pup doesn't get there often anymore because they moved to the east coast) They seem very patient with the impatient dog.
We use Wheaton Animal Hospital on Roosevelt in (ironically) Glen Ellyn for our dog's grooming. REALLY good service...average pricing. We use their vets too and really like that you can bring the dog in anytime without an appointment. Nice to be able to have the dog groomed and visit the vet at the same time.
