In keeping with the origin of species theme, how about:

The island of Newfoundland is separated from the Labrador Peninsula by the Strait of Belle Isle and from Cape Breton Island by the Cabot Strait. It blocks the mouth of the Saint Lawrence River, creating the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, the world's largest estuary. Newfoundland's nearest neighbour is the tiny French overseas community of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon.

IF he makes a mess on the floor, you can say Cabot stained my rug!

I was really a big fan of Pavarotti. Have to love his work with La Boheme...Che gelida manina, in particular. I miss that guy already.

This is easy.

You liked Orbit, a space themed name. For whatever reason, the dog will not be named Orbit.

The dog will be gray.

The only suitable name for a gray dog owned by someone who likes space-themed names is . . .

Astro

Since the wife is from the Heights, the only appropriate name should be either TrailBlazer or Trojan.....

Charcoal <your last name here> is the perfect name. You can call him/her "Coal" for short.

All the credit for that one goes to Yossarian. I just seconded the idea.

I always hated when people did this with children's names I was considering, but I once knew a cat named Charcoal and it was the meanest, most psychotic animal I have ever met. Charcoal has long since passed on to the great cat beyond, but I would hate to have him channel his evil spirit to what should certainly be a sweet, friendly puppy. If you name him Charcoal and he immediately bites you hard enough to draw blood - change his name while you still can.
