When we were getting her, we actually discussed whether we thought we were doing anything "wrong." We decided that while these guys had breached their contract with the folk they got their dogs from (whether or not those contracts were enforceable), we were not parties to that contract.

The community of breeders is an interesting little group, isn't it?

Didn't you know?
Those pups are genetically engineered such that they come home not only housebroken but responding to commands in 6 languages including Esperanto.

She is ill. Diarrhea. Pretty normal given the change in geography and the diet. Is on rice and a little kibble for a while. Eating ok, drinking ok. Should be fine in a day or two.

My gluten-free, properly purchased, completely void of any ethical questions and dilemmas puppy has had a pretty good go of training so far. Admittedly, we have been with her 24/7 since arrival. She has peed inside twice and inadvertently sprayed a little illness on the kitchen floor once. Other than that, no problems. She seems to miss her sibs a bit and my charm, while interesting and amusing to most, is not working with her.

What kind of food were you feeding her? Our puppy had some problems early on until we switched him to Science Diet.

Um Scotty... Maybe the reason your dog eats paper out of the recycle bin is because he has to eat Science Diet. The other reason could be he is crazy... Just a thought.

IMO this is a somewhat useful discussion of various dog foods.
We decided upon Canidae, which you can get at Pet Supplies Plus. A bit of researching led me to believe it was the best, most reasonably priced kibble available. But tons of dogs lead long and healthy lives on just about everything out there.

Clam, make sure she doesn't have a bug. Our pup had what you discribed and needed antibiotics to kick it. Common with puppies.

The pup and I stopped by to see if we could capture a glimpse of this elusive - some say mythical - creature. The manwagon was conspicuously absent from the driveway. Clam's better half - hell, make that better 2/3 at least - informed me that her dear hubby was at church, undoubtedly praying for all of our souls.

The purported beast was allegedly "napping", so we continue to lack visual confirmation.
