In the near distant future, I am going to have to purchase dog supplies: everything from a collar and leash to a Labrador Retriever size crate, food/water dishes, bed and toys.

Would PetSmart give me the most variety with the best prices or would anyone recommend someplace else? I don't think I want to go from place to place for the best this and the best that; I think this may be a one day shopping extravaganza.

Also, I just have to call the village to register this dog and then I can just sign her up online for the dog park, correct?

If you promise to cut down on your trips to Taco Bell, I have some Lab sized bowls, beds etc. that I would be happy to give to you if you don't mind them being gently used. In fact, I was going to give them to Clam, but I haven't seen him around here lately. The item I don't have is the large steel crate.

What part of "no" don't you understand?

Dog park you have to go in I think. They physically need to see residency and vaccination. Pet supplies plus -Villa Park or Roosevelt Rd./Wheaton is cheap, very cheap.

There are some places online too: Drs. Foster & Smith, Pet Care Plus and Pet Supply Warehouse. The later two are incredibly cheap for a lot of stuff! Most of the time delivery/shipping is free.

Welcome to the wonderful world of pet ownership. It is a long, happy journey that is sure to very fulfilling. Overall -- I Love it!

Thanks everyone!

I'm not there just yet. Future pooch is going to have to make a visit to our house to meet our two cats to see whether they can all live in peace. Her status with cats is unknown. The whole thing could implode if she thinks our cats are new independently mobile squeaky toys. Here's her photo:

I like Petsmart in Danada myself - but more importantly, here's hoping the home visit goes well - that's a lovely dog!

We got a lot of the basics (crate, etc.) at the Petsmart at Rice Lake Square when we got our dog a couple years ago. She rather quickly destroys almost all the toys we buy, but we've had success with some of the toys we've bought at the Natural Pet Market that is also in Rice Lake Square.

Pet Supplies Plus is the cheapest and closest and all that crap is the same regardless of where you go. If you really get super-excited to bring your dog into a store...have at it. You can do that there, too. That's one tradition that I have never understood, but people really seem to enjoy showing off their animals. Get to see the occasional standoff in the leash aisle, so I guess it's worth it.

Well . . . that didn't work out.

Looks like it's back to the drawing board.

Oh crap Frown sorry about that. Well at least you were able to 'rent to own' before the actual move in. Terriers can be like that too!
