GBAR- Not sure if you were looking for someplace local or would consider a place in Chicago? I used Koven Dog Training on Elston on both my Labs and have recommended to many friends, always with excellent results. They have an individual program that lasts, I believe, 8 weeks, so it would only require 1 trip a week to their facility and you can usually pick the times that work for you.
One other plus is that if you take their course, you have free lifetime access to refresher classes. They have those along the lakefront on weekends. Hope this helps.
he'll be 8 weeks May 10th. Interesting show on Oprah my wife told me. Her dog trainer was on the show. He says most dry dog foods loaded with carbs and grain based. Said to feed dogs raw or rare meat, vegies, and a little rice.
Everybody that I know that has a Lab has had trouble with allergies to wheat. Lamb & rice or chicken & rice (less stinky) seems to be the way to go. Be careful about feeding people food. If you do, make sure you give him vitamins as a supplement. Omega3 and glucosamine are also good supplements to give dogs. And remember that chocolate and onions are toxic. Grapes in even the smallest amount can cause kidney failure.

Who is your vet?
Dear Clam: We now use a husband/wife team that travels to your home. If surgery is needed, they have a vet hospital that they use. Very compassionate and astute, good bed side manners. When we had them look at Gus in the latter days of his life, they diagnosed additional issues that he had that the local vet missed like spinal degradation (numbness in rear legs) and a tumor in his abdominal cavity, above and beyond the bone spurs (arthritis) in his joints. I can get their phone number if you like. They put Gus down here in the privacy of our home, saving me and my wife the scene of dissolving into tears at the vets. I highly recommend them.
Thanks Scotty. Buddy is full of character and action galore. Forget what it was like to have an 8 week puppy! Like having a baby again! Next step is to break him from being gun shy. In a month or 2, will start giving him a treat while simultaneously letting a blank gun off. Worked on Gus, he LOVED fireworks!
