Dan: Do you by any chance live off of Prospect? Monday morning I was driving down Prospect when I saw (what I thought was a dog) by someone's garbage. I thought to myself that it was a weird looking dog and there was no one out watching it. I thought maybe it was a stray, but then have read about the coyote sightings and thought maybe this was one.

5:15pm today. Highview and Monteclair. Wiley made me stop my car while he scratched himself in the middle of Highview. Trotted eastbound ON Highview. Soon to be roadkill.

You should have done your civic duty and mowed that bitch down.

All god's creatures deserve our respect, especially the kind that eat cats!

Probably the same one I saw @ 6:15 while walking my dog - it was trotting W on Turner and headed down Montclair. Must've been 80 #! Wink

Is it just a coincidence that we are seeing so many coyotes lately? I've lived here 10 years and saw more over the past 2 weeks than in the previous ten years.

There where some people out looking for their dog last night in the Manor Woods area. So be on the lookout for a stray in that area.

Fanette just called me at work....apparently she just had a stare-down with a coyote laying down in the middle of Forest, south of the tracks. I told her that she should have mowed the bitch down.

Fish, hypothetically, as my attorney, if faced with a similar circumstance and I choose to mow the bitch down, what type of penalities am I facing? Can I claim that I am acting in self-defense...or in defense of dogs and small pets everywhere?

Please advise ASAP as I intend on mowing one of them down tonight or tomorrow.

Thanks.

GE "Not a coyote" Fan

Uh GE Fan I thought you were a Lawyer.

Don't know if it's a good idea to stare down a Coyote or any wild dog
They tend to view staring eye-to-eye as a threat .

She was in a car. I'll stare at most anything while safetly planted within an SUV.

Note to Fanette....do not read this post.

From what I can tell Fan stares best at the local "wildlife" from behind the "safetly" of his shades.

Somebody please do something about the coyotes!!! Last Saturday my neighbor across the street called me to say a coyote was sitting in his driveway at 7:00 in the morning. He knows I like to put my little 20 pound Cavalier on a line in front and he knew the people in GE who just had to put their small dog to sleep after it was attacked by a coyote.

A few days before that a man walking his bigger dog came up to my door to tell me to bring my dog in because he had just seen the coyote.

I've now been warned 5 times and because I don't want to lose my adorable dog, now I have to give my dog even MORE attention by sitting outside with him (he loves to watch the world - especially dogs - go by.)

Can't somebody trap them and take them far, far away.
Or let's send them down to Lake Ellyn and let them eat goose - that will keep them full and away from our little pets.

I've heard that leaders in the coyote community are trying to figure out how to rid the area of humans. They want the tasty doggies to stay, though.

It's a real jungle out there. Coyotes and poison mushrooms. For a little guy like yours, who likes to enjoy the outdoors, GEnative, that really stinks.

Maybe we could get the school board president to help. I hear he offers some really good relocation deals.

Well I just came back from chasing down my first coyote. 5:00 p.m. at Lorraine and Chesterfield. My neighbor saw him and warned us not to bring our dog out. I went out and saw him sitting in the street at Chesterfield and Windsor.

I decided to follow him because we have a neighbor who leaves their tiny dog out in the electric fenced yard and fortunately the dog wasn't out because the coyote walked right through their yard.

I warned the neighbor and even though they had been warned of coyotes like I had, one walking through their yard made them realize their dog's freedom of movement was over now, too.

I followed the coyote down Chesterfield to Wilshire where I was joined by a man who also wanted to chase it away. I stopped my chase when it went into someone's back yard on the west side of Wilshire.

Dang coyotes

My neighbors have a little pug dog, that they leave in the backyard a lot. Normally no big deal, but I've warned them about the coyotes and they still leave him outside. The husband said that coyotes won't or can't come in their yard because it is fenced in. True? Can they jump over a fence that is waist-high? My M-I-L who is visiting says they can.

And we all know M-I-Ls know everything. Justaskmine. I don't know how I make it day to day. That's probably why we go out to eat so much.
