Hello. My husband and I are just moving to Glen Ellyn and we are looking for recommendations on a good dog walker/sitter or daycare provider for a few days a week. Any recommendations or info. would be much appreciated.

Thank you!

Tmang:

Welcome to GE. I'll apologize for our friend, GE Fan. He has broken out of his shell as of late and means no harm.

I would try contacting one of the grooming places....like Blue Ribbon on College Ave. in Wheaton and ask them.

Look who's talking! You almost ran Motherof3childrenchinaWesternSuburbofChicagothatbordersinterstate355inthecountyofdupageandstateofillinois off this board yesterday.

However, addressing your point Tmang, sorry for the ill fated joke. Good to have you.

In all honesty, if it is a garage you are looking for, I do have room.

GE

GE Fan (which by the way does stand for General Electric Fan, Right Jack?) that was a bit harsh. Also, you failed to disclose to tmang the proximity of your garage to the 2 lane superhighway/part-time-crater known as Western Ave. No self-respecting dog would accept such accommodations. And technically speaking, Glen Ellyn straddles I-355.

What part of "no" don't you understand?

GEfan...How much are you charging for said garage space? And are you restricting applicants to dogs only? I have been looking for a place to house my husband besides the doghouse. A litter box and bowl of water are all that is required.

Thanks!

I didn't think my2cents was harsh. She provided a lot of laughs to the folks at my office. All in good fun tho, right?

And she's right, I am not new.

Tmang - not sure if you found a dog sitter yet but we had good luck with some of the neighbor kids. After paying $40 a night for doggie overnight care, (a kennel) we asked around and found three kids who love taking care of our pets while we are out of town. It ends up being a lot cheaper and the kids make some extra cash.

You might want to try asking a few neighbors in your area that have kids who are junior - high to high school age. I think we paid $40 for the entire weekend last time we went out of town. Sounds like you need dog walking during the day. If the dogs could wait until after school (3pm I think) that might work out for you.

Good luck. And welcome to Glen Ellyn.

Tmang, don't know if anyone really did answer your question, but I have 2 large dogs and we have been using Cyndi Paney with Cyndi's Critter Care for 3 years, and she is great with dogs and has reasonable rates. She walks my dogs every day at noon, spends 40 minutes total with them, and leaves a journal of her visit. Really cool. Many of my neighbors use her services as well. I highly recommend her; she can be reached at 916-7965.

Arlo - Just curious, how much does Cyndi charge? Does she charge extra for extra dogs? We'd probably need the same service - only just letting them out mid-day. Thanks so much for the rec! Smile

Cyndi charges $10 for the first dog, and $2 for the second, so it's $12/day for us for our 2 dogs - this is the 40-minute deal I mentioned above.
She actually just told me (when I asked whether I could post her rates) that her schedule is getting pretty full,** and that she refers people to this Pet Sitters International Website at http://www.petsit.com/; there is a petsitter locator on there. This organization is not a "policing" org, but rather an educational one, but all sitters registered are bonded, insured, and all that. Good luck!

**ETA: but please don't let this deter you from calling her - these things can change at any time; depending on your needs, she can let you know her availability.

Just following up on this post. We just got a puppy and we are looking for someone to let her out around lunch time for the next couple of months. Did anyone try Cindy? Are you happy with her? Any other recommendations? Thanks!
