Just yesterday all of the Vote No for the D41 referendum and the Civic Betterment party signs disappeared from my street on the west side of town. Must have been about 8 or 10 houses that had them. But not any more. Maybe whoever took them liked the color of the signs or is collecting them to sell on ebay??? Wink

They are becoming despearate.

It doesn't matter because this ill concieved referendum was doomed for failure since it's inception.

The current board is no longer credible, or worthy of our trust and confidence.

It's not just "vote no" signs that are disappearing. No moral high ground here.

What part of "no" don't you understand?

The east side of town was hit a few days ago. My guess is they are heading north next.

I say we collect all of the vote NO signs and strategically place them at the corner of Main and ...what is that intersection just one light south of five corners on Main????

I can't even explain the sadness I am feeling about this entire referendum. Both sides of this issue have demonstrated immature and inconsiderate behavior. I spoke with Ohma earlier this evening and asked, "Do you remember the D41 Board meeting when I spoke about (among other things) the devisiveness that the Board is creating in this town?" Ohma remembered and I dare say I was right. At the meeting where I spoke, I was sickened to have one set of people basically tell others to "get over it" in reference to the 2001 referendum while others (including me) admonished the board to do what is right and regain the trust of the community. I said then that these issues have incredible potential to turn neighbor against neighbor and the BOE only has itself to blame. For years, some who tend to agree with the status quo have been given special attention and asked to be on committees while those with opposing views - or who may be unknown entities - get passed over. Why? Because the board (and at least past admin) wanted to stack opinion in their favor. Yes voters on this BB have accused me and others of being big believers in conspiracy...I am not typically wired that way but to watch what has happened in this district over the past 14 years I have lived here, it just sickens me. I truly hope we get fresh voices on the board and that this adminstration will do more to reach out to the people who question.

I for one am truly sad while sitting in my church with people I know - who are vocally YES voters and whom know I am vocally a NO voter - wondering if I can still be on friendly terms with them. Will they be nice to my face and then say mean things about me when I turn away? Do they think I am saying such things about them? Well, I want it to be clear that while we may disagree, I refuse to treat anyone any differently than I did before these issues. I hope everyone will try to take the high ground (as we have all slipped a bit on this BB) becuase in the end we are one community.

Trust me, Amy....by Thursday it will all go away regardless of which side wins. Wednesday will be a Civic Day of Gloating for the winning side.

If people treat you differently for what you believe in, **** 'em.

Amy,

I still do not understand how I can stand in the freezing cold and smile and say hello while offering, not forcing, literature on people, just to have certain people/groups berate me for doing so.

I can agree to disagree with people. I do not feel the need to respond in kind to the feelings I have received at many venues these past weeks and months. I can't imagine some of these people agreeing to rethink the issue in the event this fails. The emotions are so strong out there, it is a wonder we all get along at all sometimes.

What I really don't understand is Growing 41's lack of leadership that doesn't tell their members to act respectfully of others. We may be on opposite sides of the fence today, but you may need me tommorrow.

Lastly, whether anyone from the other side believes this or not is irrelevant, but Preserve41 has gone to great lengths to inform all of our supporters of the proper conduct expected in this election process. Keep the issues the issues and leave the personal baggage at home.

I too am saddened by the behavior of a few growing d41 members and BB'ers. Most of the members have kept their emotions in check and behaved like the adults they are.

After telling others not to take the emails personally, when I read one that was written by a friend, I felt like I had been slapped. I hope that when this is said and done, we can go about the business of working together to find a solution. And those involved are not known by their vote.

Good things come to those who wait....
