Amy, I am not lumping women into a weak and emotional category. Condi Rice does not appear to be emotional or weak when it comes to State Dept negotiations. I don't recall once seeing a news report or video where she has cried. (With today's internet, I am not making that absolute bet though). People (not just women) tend to get emotional over different input. Hillary, ironically enough, has shown tears only after primary losses (Iowa & SC) and prior to new primaries. To me, and probably only to me, it doesn't matter why she teared up. She did. It looks calculating at best. As a long respected member of the BB has utilized "If it walks like a duck....." |

I agree. Even with my minimum international travel I do see it's value. I also concure her tears were not calculated. We embrace a male who becomes emotional, but find it wrong when a woman becomes emotional. I do think either democratic contender will head our country in the right direction. Each for different reasons. |

How do you figure? Remember when Howard Dean got emotional? That didn't quite work out too well. "Often Wrong, Never in Doubt" |

It's interesting to me that anger is acceptable, but tears aren't. So you can get emotional as long as you want to get violent as a result. If you get emotional and you don't want to smash something, not acceptable. Doesn't that explain some of the messes we're in as a country?

I don't think we've ever seen Condi Rice being hosted and introduced by a mentor from her young-adult life - especially an introduction so sweet ...even the speaker was getting emotional.
And yes, we are much more accepting of anger from a man than tears from a woman when either is in a position of power. As for Howard Dean, I really didn't understand why his "Yeahhhhhhh....!" derailed his candidacy. I liked him. "The most valuable things in life are not measured in monetary terms. The really important things are not houses and lands, stocks and bonds, automobiles and real state, but friendships, trust, confidence, empathy, mercy, love and faith. " -Bertrand Russell V. Delong |
