The media is making somewhat of an issue of Hillary's voice cracking while she was discussing her struggles on the campaign trail. I'm curious if this impacts your voting preference

I actually respect her more for showing that she really does care but I still won't vote for her as I think we need to shake things up in Washington.

There is very little that the media brings up that influences who I will vote for in the primary and general elections. I prefer to know what they've done in the past and what they are likely to do in the future. Most of the political coverage merely pits one candidate against another according to the Democratic/Republican, blue/red, left/right standards. I don't think that's very informative, really.

Hillary like all politicians cares mostly about herself
As for shaking things up . Hope whoever gets the jobs does something about our moribund education system. Which is even now falling behind India. Have your kids learn Hindi so that they can work for an Indian company on their helpdesk. |

Seems like it may have helped the "Ice Queen". She's got the edge on Obama in NH by 3% with 67% of the precincts in.

You know, as a woman, I am insulted on many levels about this whole election:
1. Assuming that I will vote for a woman because I'm a woman. Insulting. 2. Saying that a woman showing emotion is a "tool" used to win votes. If a man did the same, what would the response be? Insulting. 3. Hillary saying she's been an agent of change for 35 years...how much have things changed in those 35 years? In the last seven, things haven't been so hot and she's been in the Senate almost all of that time. Again, insulting (though this isn't so much about being a woman). "The most valuable things in life are not measured in monetary terms. The really important things are not houses and lands, stocks and bonds, automobiles and real state, but friendships, trust, confidence, empathy, mercy, love and faith. " -Bertrand Russell V. Delong |

Unfortunately Amy, if she is going to try and get herself elected as the "first female president", then she will be up to the scrutiny of being a woman. I agree, her 35 years of change stance is pretty weak, and you are right, it hasn't changed.
Also, if a man was going to cry while running an election, he would be called a wimp, who wouldn't be able to sustain his presidency and make tough decisions. |

Didn't Ed Muskie cry during an election run? How did that work out for him?
Some political puindits have speculated that Hillary's "display" showed her "soft side" and may have swung some voters in NH. I tend to believe that Hillay's display was a calculated move, but then I've always been distrustful of the Clintons. What really amuses me is how the media has been such a windsock in these primarys. Last week after Iowa, it was "Clinton is toast", now Obama could be in trouble if he doesn't win S.C. Wake me up after Super Tuesday. "Any man who is under 30, and is not a liberal, has not heart; and any man who is over 30, and is not a conservative, has no brains." (Winston Churchill) |

Well, Amy get prepared to continue to get insulted Ms. Clinton won in NH yesterday because she won the women vote. So her little crying thing seemed to have worked.
Like dragging her daughter all over the place with her. Yep Edmund Muskie did cry which is why you have never heard of President Muskie. Though he did get to be McGovern's VP choice what an honor that was. |

I think the only one who doesn't have their children by their side on the campaign trail is Rudy.

Boy, are we showing our age! I was surprised I even remember that. "Any man who is under 30, and is not a liberal, has not heart; and any man who is over 30, and is not a conservative, has no brains." (Winston Churchill) |

i felt that hillary's 'display of emotion' was highly calculated and annoying. and, despite what the media seem to think, i don't think that was the primary factor behind her win in nh. as a woman voter, that tactic did more to make me dislike her than want to vote for her.
i also agree with amy that it is insulting to assume that women will vote for her because she's a woman. i intend to vote for the candidate that i feel will make the best president. i also agree that hillary's claim to have been an agent of change over the last 35 years is weak. i wanted to laugh when she pulled out that phrase during the debate... |

No McCain has kept his children out of it. And Hillary only brought Chelsea with her when her poll numbers started to slide . Wants to show that she is just like one of us. |

Not true, I have seen McCain's daughter, Meghan just as much as Chelsea. I'm not voting for her just because she's a woman either...I figure it's a "2 for" and the best way to get Bill back in da house!

McGovern's choice was Tom Eagleton, who dropped out due to revelation of past electroshock therapy. He was replace by Sargent Shriver, in a vain attempt to capture some Kennedy magic. Ronald M. Kas |
