Yeah sure it is...

["…And a post worth correcting—twice:

There are more than just oaks and maples that are native to our part of Illinois; take a quick peek at an Audubon Society guide or visit the Morton Arboretum.

To say Ackerman Woods is devoid of “any other significant trees. It’s just an overgrown patch of woods” portrays disregard for that basic biology we expect our schools to be teaching to our kids.here are more than just oaks and maples that are native to our part of Illinois; take a quick peek at an Audubon Society guide or visit the Morton Arboretum.

You know, I fully support an individual’s inherent right to keep and hug trees. I believe that all trees are created equal. HOWEVER I want to know why the Creech's discriminate against the trees SOUTH of town. Apparently she DOES NOT believe that all trees are created equal. I want to know why the trees at Ackerman got a website, several threads on this Board, letters to the editor, crowds at Board meetings & the most negative Chicago style campaigning I have EVER experienced in the 45 1/2 years that I have lived here.

The only thing the 400+ MATURE trees at Village Green got was a saw blade.

I want to know why the trees across from her house were fought for so valiantly but she could have cared less about the 400+ mature trees that the Village destroyed when they renovated Village Green Golf Course a few years back. Apparently all trees are not created equal in Creech's eyes. Apparently the only trees of any significance to the Creech campaign are the ones at the Park across the street from her home.

Great, after all of her negative Chicago style campaigning SMEARING Jeff Jourdan, the only South Side Park Board Commissioner, I wonder what else she is capable of...

Trees were cut at Village Links? Is that what you meant?

Some trees were cut at Village Green - the fields to the West of Lambert - but they really were nothing to get excited about. Smile

It does take some effort to figure out what he is trying to say!

They removed some trees during the recent changes to the Links. Maybe JG is upset over the willows that used to be on the right side of #4 ...

Did they really take out 400 trees in the renovation? It doesn't seem like that many are gone. Maybe its just because they left those couple of big cottonwoods just down the fairway from the tee on that par 5 that borders Lambert Rd. I seem to be able to avoid most of the other trees on the entire course except for those. What candidates are willing to see to the demise of those particular trees?

Maybe this is the wrong thread to ask this question on, though I think it kind of relates to why some candidates didn't fare so well -

Was anyone at this last Park Board meeting where I am told the incumbents were bent on ramming through a new 5 year plan and a million $ bond issue (without a clearly articulated use or need for the funds) before their current terms were up in a couple weeks?

I am curious to hear more details about these actions from anyone that has that first hand info. Thanks.

If it is true, IMHO it is another example of bad board behavior that isn't in the best interests of the residents. What's the reason? What's the rush? Two important actions with long term impact that is not insignificant and no discussion or explanation... Confused

Greetings Iceberg,

Regarding the last Park Board meeting where you were told the incumbents were bent on ramming through a new 5 year plan and a million $ bond issue (without a clearly articulated use or need for the funds) before their current terms were up in a couple weeks?

You could actually contact the Park District & obtain a copy of the minutes. Once you do that you could always post them here so that we could all see the official document regarding what you heard.

You might also want to check with Missy Creech. She told us all on the campaign trail that she has been attending all of the Park Board meetings for the last 7 months. She has probably taken really good notes.

In any event, I am confident that after Tuesdays election the Park District will be governing transparently and that we will all be able to see for ourselves from the comfort of home once the meetings are televised Smile

As far as I know, none of our elected boards post minutes of their meetings on their web sites until after they have been approved at the following meeting. I appreciate the fact that Districts 41 and 87 generally post "Board Highlights" after their meetings before the official minutes are available. I wish the Park District and Village boards did that.

Contacted the Park Dist and as of yesterday there are no minutes available yet. It sure would be nice if there was a written summary such as D41 and D87 post in the wake of meeting. The way things stand now, items discussed at the meeting will be approved at a future meeting BEFORE the minutes of the meeting they were discussed at become approved or available. It seems a bit bassackwards and not the way to promote communication and trust. If there is nothing to hide why not put it out there?

I contacted the Park board last month to let them know the PDF they posted claimed to be 5 pages, but was made with only the first page. They fixed it within a couple of days.

It's the spending, Stupid!
