that will make you hate hippies as much as he does.
Dear Supporter, It is an honor to serve DuPage and Cook Counties in the United States Congress and I remain committed to finding solutions for our nation based on our shared conservative principles. But, unfortunately, the national Democrats have targeted me for defeat this year and I need your help today to fight back against them. To date, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has $35 million cash on hand, more than twice what they had last cycle. They've raised millions of this total from special interests this year alone. And I have little doubt that Rahm Emmanuel, Rod Blagojevich and the Democratic establishment will do everything in their power- including spending their last penny- to gain the Congressional seat I won with your generous and steadfast support in 2006. I'm writing to you today to ask for your help to fight back against them. We're coming up on an important campaign deadline next Monday, March 31st. I need your most generous contribution today to ensure our campaign meets our fundraising goal by next Monday at midnight. A campaign contribution of $2,300, $1,000, $500, $250, $100 or even $25 will help me spread my message, so I can continue to work to find solutions in Washington. With the cost of healthcare spiraling out of control, energy costs rising and the housing market continuing to sink, I am appalled that the Democrats want to raise your taxes. And what do they want to spend your money on? More government benefits for illegal immigrants and special spending earmarks for a hippie museum in Woodstock, New York. I know you'll agree that we cannot afford to let the Democrats replace me with someone who will toe the line for their agenda of higher taxes and uncontrollable government spending. Will you show your support today by making an immediate contribution to my re-election campaign before the March 31st deadline? The Democrats will come after us with everything they've got so we have to be ready to counter their distortions and shine a light on their half-truths. Your generous donation will help me get out my solution-based message in the coming campaign to fight back against the attacks. Please join our campaign today! Thank you for your continued support, Congressman Peter J. Roskam P.S. As I tirelessly work for solutions to the problems our nation is facing, the Democrats are hatching a plan to attack my record. Your immediate support is needed to fight back against these attacks with the truth. Any donation you can make before our campaign deadline next Tuesday can help me make a difference in Washington. Please join our campaign today by making a generous contribution of $200, $100 or just a $25 donation. It will go a long way. Thank you! |

While certainly a partisan appeal, I can't say I find any inaccuracies in this. The (attempted) "hippie" museum is for real. And its certainly worth a chuckle.
A D-day museum, I can see that. A Woodstock museum? I mean, puh-lease, people. Is THAT how this generation wants to be remembered? Which generation inspires you more? |

That is a really easy answer!
If the hippie museum gives the patron a real step back to memory lane, I'll take the hippie museum over the D-Day museum any day of the week and twice on Sundays. Hmmmmmm, weed, LSD, cocaine, mushrooms, nakedness, sex with multiple partners and great music VS. artillery fire, wetness, cold, blood and death. I think the hippie museum sounds awesome. I'm seeing a theme here for the next GEBB party. "Deck the halls..." |

I'm a democrat and wouldn't support the Woodstock museum - at least not with tax dollars. There are Republicans that put in pet projects too though. No party is free from criticism for such things.
Now, for the next GEBB party..... "The most valuable things in life are not measured in monetary terms. A little more warmth in the air, and I'm making a big bowl of the stuff! I will have to invite everyone over then.

It is stunning how intelligent people like you can get sidetracked by one inflammatory phrase of a political fundraising letter. Thus, it's no wonder how the Rev. Wright issue gets 24/7 play in the media.
