I know we all remember the events of 9/11, it is an event that has impacted every American.
I would like to ask all my fellow GEBB posters to honor those who lost their lives on 9/11 by a show of solidarity today. Forget your party affiliations or political leanings and just be an American today. I think a day's refrain from the political debates would do us all some good and give us time to reflect on what happened on that tragic day and how it affected us all.
"Everyone thinks their opinion matters. Don't argue with a nobody. A farmer doesn't bother telling a pig his breath smells like s***."
Can we all keep this updated so it is always the "Last topic", so that it is the first thread people see today coming to the board, to honor this fitting idea?
It greatly saddens me that however great the injuries we incurred on 9/11, they are vastly overshadowed by those we have voluntarily and needlessly imposed on ourselves through our reactions following that date.
Pollux, if you've kept up today, Yoss just asked for a day off. Dan the Man broke the link of this being the "Last Post" in this section, I was simply linking this to the "top" again, posted the article called "Better angels". It ended with the "BOTTOM LINE: 9/11 is a good day to call a political truce." Anyone thinking otherwise (you) is literally reading too much into this.
Dan, not your fault, wasn’t implying you did anything. You commented on a thread yesterday afternoon in the "Upcoming Elections" section, which pushed that thread to the front on the "Welcome" page as the "Last Post". To minimize others from posting yesterday, to honor Yoss' appeal, I requested to others and was attempting to keep the "9/11" thread as the "Last Topic", so it would be the first visitors would see and read, and honor the day off from posting.
