I'm smelling desperation out of the Clinton camp. I do admire how Obama's been handling the stuff they have been throwing at him.

Uh, Yoss....now's not the time to break down on me. DuPage is under attack. If you got nothing bad to say, then don't say anyhthing. Stay strong my brother! "You shouldn't soil your Sunday pants, like those other foolish ants." |

I heard on the news that the Clinton Camp is handing out campaign buttons that say "Bring the Clinton's back to the white House" which means, a package deal (incuding Bill). Might make some feel comfortable with that statement! Always thought Bill would be the power behind the throne and side step his term limit.

Hi,
It's interesting to hear how much attention this election is getting from the rest of the world. In fact, last night I was told by a German-speaking friend that she'd read in the "Der Spiegel" (German's news magazine) about the popularity of Obama. They compared the Obama-craze to what happened in this country with the Dot.com frenzy. Everyone jumped aboard hoping to get something out of it. Unfortunately, many came up empty. I have nothing against Obama personally. In fact, I think he's probably a really nice, sincere guy. I have to admit it does seem like Obama-loving is becoming a fad. Anybody else notice that? |

Dear MNSC: I agree. Interesting article in today's Wall St. Journal about the pension crisis facing many states. Illinois ranks as #2 behind California with the worst negative unfunded pension fund obligation. My question to Barak our senator from Illinois is, what the hell are you going to do about it? What is this guys claim to fame? The more they dig, the more they uncover. Arizonia, by the way, had one of the healthiest pension balance sheets. As I said before, really can't think of ANYONE from Illinois worthy of the oval office.

For a long time, I've thought that Barack Obama is the guy we need and I haven't faltered in that belief one bit. The bottom line is that, if nominated, he must surround himself with a very strong group of advisors. He has the people skills, the intelligence, and the willingness to work with legislators from all parties to get things done. Those skills are more important than his own, particular stand on anything. I don't believe that John McCain or Hillary Clinton can make things happen the way this guy potentially can.
By the way, Gus, it's spelled Barack. "The most valuable things in life are not measured in monetary terms. C'mon Amy! McCain has a proven track record of reaching across the aisle. A little too much for my liking, but nonetheless he has. McCain-Feingold; McCain-Kennedy and McCain-Lieberman are examples of bipartisan legislation that McCain has worked on. "You shouldn't soil your Sunday pants, like those other foolish ants." |

Right on B Boy: In fact, about right now, a McCain/Lieberman ticket doesn't look bad speaking about reaching across the aisle.
BTW Amy, I forget that BARACK didn't spell the name ala the traditional Arab manner, Barak. Sorry for the miscue! |

BTW Gus, I called a McCain-Lieberman ticket in a different forum or thread, something like that. I also called an Obama-Clark ticket. I believe that Obama will pick a military guy to counter arguments made about his lack of military background. We are at war and McCain is a war hero, Obama needs to fill this void. What do you think?

Yes, McCain has reached accross the aisle. But he's way on the wrong side of the Iraq issue. And he's awfully old, IMO, to become President. I think he's a decent guy and certainly I respect him but won't vote for him....
I don't think Barack's Father was Arab - he was Kenyan. So, one shouldn't expect an Arabic spelling....unless you're falling for that whole line that he's somehow Muslim. I don't think you'd fall for that Gus, right? Of course, there are Arabic people who are not Muslim too, as you know. Bitterboy, I like Clark and would find that a good ticket. Not sure if that's the direction he will go if he does in fact get the nomination but I'd like it. "The most valuable things in life are not measured in monetary terms. Hi,
Never thought I'd say this as I've never been a big Clinton supporter. But now that I've watched just about every debate, and following the coverage of these campaigns, I am convinced that Hillary is getting the shaft by our media. Not that there isn't a certain amount of karma involved (remember the '92 election when H.W. Bush was portrayed as the 'old-fogie' by the Clintons while they basked in the limelight of the adoring press?). It just seems like Obama can do no wrong in the eyes of many people, including the media. Like I said, I think Obama seems like a nice guy. Just remember, this country has a history of building people up, only to knock them back down and shove them to the gutter. One thing we can all agree on (I hope) is that there will be a very clear choice to make this November. If it's a McCain - Obama contest, I can't imagine anyone being swayed to the other side who hasn't made up their mind already. Particularly with regard to the war in Iraq. BTW - Amy girlfriend, let's have drinks and discuss Hillary. |
