It's really quite simple. While she's smart, she's also abrasive. She lacks Presidential quality, IMO. Of course, our current President lacks it too which didn't stop him from getting elected...twice! UGH. We've had a lack of that quality for too long and we need it. Obama has it. I will admit Hillary has grown on me some and if she were to win the nomination, I would likely vote for her in the general election (and that's a change for me because I did not feel this way back in October).
We can still have a drink together though. "The most valuable things in life are not measured in monetary terms. The really important things are not houses and lands, stocks and bonds, automobiles and real state, but friendships, trust, confidence, empathy, mercy, love and faith. " -Bertrand Russell V. Delong |

Dear All: First of All, Barack's father was a muslim which has zero relevance to the election, FYI. But, he was raised Christian due to his mother's religion. But for better or worse, this could be an issue considering Lieberman (who I do respect and like) is Jewish but I'm sure was an obstacle to his run for the presidency, like Romney's Mormon faith. As much as it tries, the US nor any country can't be all things to all people. We can all strive for that but it is difficult due to human nature and the socio/economic fabric of a nation. The US is still the most open soceity in the world with results mostly good for this endavour.
As to retired Gen'l Clark, his campaign reeks of Gen'l Mcllenan from the civil war era who ran against Lincoln and his platform was appeasement and negotiations with the south. He was pissed of at Lincoln for firing him as Gen'l of the Potomac and was going to get his revenge through political means at the expense of the country. If this clown would have been elected, the stars and bars would have been flying over half of the US. Suggest you brush up on your history, interesting reading with ramifications of current and future events. As to a military man as a running mate for Barack or Hillary, don't think so. The military is abhored by the liberal left despite the fact that they (armed forces) man the lines and protect and ensure the very freedoms of the peoples of the world enjoy, not just the US. I just have an issue with entitlements and huge tax increases. I can GUARANTEE you that Barack's or Hillary's tax incrases will for sure push this country in recession. I'm irritated that they never talk about budget restraints. How are they going to pay for all their programs they are selling to the populace??? Do the math!!!! They are bribing the people with their own money. Class warfare is their tactic and that is dangerous my friends. |

Gus, are you sure about Barack's Dad? (I agree it's neither here nor there but I like to have my facts straight, whenever possible.)
Also, I really don't like it when you say the "liberal left" and lump us all together. Yes, there is a faction of the far left that abhors the military. I am not in that more extreme group but I am somewhat of a "liberal lefty". I have great respect for those who serve. I do get very frustrated by the methods the military uses to recruit. At the auto show, the military had a big display. It was really interesting to see some of their "toys" but they were giving out some free "id tags" and to get them, you had to provide your name, address, etc. You KNOW they will mark some of those as prospective enlistees and the kids will get called. On one hand, it's fair but on the other hand, a lot of kids don't know what they are getting into. As for your historical reference, I admit, I was unaware of that little tidbit. I don't think Wesley Clark is anything like that so I don't think it's an accurate connection to make - just my opinion... "The most valuable things in life are not measured in monetary terms. My dearest Amelia: I can rate you as one of my favorite dems! And yes, Barack's dad was muslim but then again, who cares. As I've said before, religion and politics don't mix, period, my issue with the extreme right. Never said or even implied that you were on the extreme left so don't worry! As to the military, who cares that they market effectively. It's their job to recruit. They're not holding a gun to anyones head to enlist like some countries in this world.
Did you watch that interesting little piece about the arab-american FBI agent(a minority like me!) who "interviewed" Saddam for over a year. The US wanted to know where the nukes were after unsuccessfully not finding a thing after the 2nd invasion. The show aired on that lefty show, 60 minutes. In this interview with Saddam, Saddam admitted he was going to re-constitute his nuke program somewhere down the road when the dust cleared. Saddam feared and hated 2 things he admitted: Israel and Iran and was the justification of his nuke program. Saddam also admitted that he did meet with Osama but actually disliked the ultra radicalism and religous tone of his message. Saddam after all, was secular. But the fact remains, as BBoy and I have clearly stated, that Iraq's nuke policy at some point in time was going to be re-born. To think otherwise is naive. Now, can you imagine if the states of Iran, Iraq, Syria, Israel, Pakistan and God knows who else, has nukes with their fingers on the trigger, mostly by despots, within this region? I shudder at the thought. Thank God for our missile defense system which we better pray is 100% accurate! But what was most interesting is that not 1 tabloid or TV editorial came out against the testimony of this very educated, patriotic, and brave Arab American. Not 1 person doubted his testimony which I am sure his interviews were taped for posterity and proof. I just wonder why this interview was ignored by the press??? |
