Here's a snippet from today's Sun-Times article on Mr. Brady:
"Brady explained his unpopular votes on some bills by saying he looks at issues like a businessman: Why did he vote against state mandates that insurance plans cover pap smears, mammograms and contraceptives? Because he votes against all mandates which he says raise the cost of health insurance."
Yep. You girls really add to the health insurance costs. That's why we won't require that prevention stuff be covered. Yup.
"A great many people think they are thinking when they are merely rearranging their prejudices." William James
well, dang, he is an advocate for mass euthenasia of dogs and cats (for cost reasons), he's against equal civil rights for gay citizens, and now he's against women's health...what's with the GOP in this state?

It's a little like the old saying "no use crying over spilt milk". I wish there was a candidate with a real plan instead of finger pointing and empty promises.
Of course we all know the real plan will be painful but this head in the sand stuff needs to stop.
This article pretty much sums it up. It's disgusting the numbers flying around and finger pointing. "Quinn reduced spending by $1.5B" "No it was only $150 million" "Actually he increased spending by $200 million from 2009-2010" That last one by "A Republican analysis" really rankles my a**. Really? $200 million? This c*** is not helpful and is not addressing the problem one iota with the exception that Quinn is doing what has to be done which is cut spending. I would boot everyone except there doesn't seem to be a lot of decent candidates who want to run for public office.
And of course the elderly, mentally ill, and education will take the hit.
Of course thats it! There are almost 4000 retirees with $100,000 and up pensions in the State AND local muni retirement systems. Hey! Hey!
Even if you could cut tens of thousands off their annual retirement it only amounts to a few $10's of millions on a retirement budget that is short $14 Billion a year and growing. And I even threw in the portion of the 4000 that are in muni systems instead of the State retirement budget.
