She's a scrapper - I have no doubt she was criminally wrong with her cattle trade and involved in all the nastiness that is Arkansas. I also think that her husband is a scumbag and I would join the legions who refuse to shake his hand.

But she is a seasoned fighter, and would clearly make a better President of the United States of America than Obama. There is a lot to be said for the thoroughness with which we know her, she's a tough person for a tough job. She truly knows and understands the issues and the system she seeks to manage. She is capable.

Obama is an untested, unknown. He is not at this time qualified to be President. We do not want nor need a figurehead for this position.

Not arguing with you Jombl, just a comment. Whether she is tough enough to handle the position is a statement by itself. I question whether we want more of the same old line politicians handling the nation's affairs. I will go out and say that I am solidly in McCain's camp (As hypocritical of my last statement it may be), but if I had to choose between Hillary and Obama, I would vote for the newbie. If only to see what could be. She seems too entrenched in old guard ways.

Thank God...I'd hate to lose another poster to the superior sparring style of Jombl. Just doesn't pay in the long-run.

Yes, fighting for Hilary. If it's in Hilary's best interest, she fights for it.

At the end of the day, they will both be on the ticket.

IMHO

I could see a Hillary/Obama ticket but not a Obama/Hillary ticket. I mean, what would be the upside for Obama? If he wants to cast himself as a "new" politician, I'd think the last thing he'd want is to put a Clinton on the ticket. No president wants a past president lurking about the White House, and you know Bill couldn't keep himself away and/or his mouth shut.

Hi,

I agree with Jombl. I was open to the idea of either of them (if McCain did not get the nomination) until I watched a few of the debates. I was impressed with Hillary's strength and knowledge.

Have to say, it will be amazing if the Democrats do not end up in the White House after this election. How they could NOT win, given our economy, the war, and overall dissatisfaction with George W is beyond me. But it is starting to look like McCain has a better chance after all. If McCain wins, the Democrats should take a good, hard look at what happened. Starting with their leadership (DEAN) and the debacle with states like Florida and Michigan.

From the article cited by Gus: "About 15% of voters (in the Penn primary) were new to a Democratic primary, and they split for Sen. Obama 2 to 1."

Should be troubling news for McCain. Those newbies more than make up for the potential defectors to McCain. IF they defect as Reagan Democrats did. Again - McCain is not Reagan. There will be few McCain Democrats who are not offset by new registration. He does not have the charm, wit, or ability to frame an issue like Reagan had. McCain is a short, blond, reproduction of Bob Dole.

Last bit of caffeine today: Why did no one mention Bombs Away Hillary's comment about nuking the Iranians?

I've refrained from commenting because everybody who has been reading my comments already knows who I support and why. But I really don't think I can take four years of Hillary or McCain. UGH. Time will tell....

A small-town feel permeates much of Indiana; it is a state where hundreds of thousands attend the annual State Fair and where high school and college basketball are treated with near-religious reverence.

Obama's words will haunt him. Take it from your uncle BITTER!

quote:
The campaign arrives at a rocky time politically. Recent elections have seen mayors, members of Congress and others tossed from office amid anger over tax increases and the lagging economy.

Except for Clinton's last year, most people associate the Clintons with a good, robust economy. Hillary will drive this home.

I'll be celebrating Hillary's victory at Jack Binion's Horsehoe. Amy - if you care to join me, first round is on me. Giddy up!

Hmmmmm. I grew up in Indiana and what you put in as his quote is a very accurate portrayal of much of the state and you might read negative connotation into that but I do not. I hold very close to my heart and memories growing up in a small town and holding our basketball and football games as major community events. The only other place (than a football field or basketball court) where people came together like that was at church. Again, I don't know why that quote would be viewed as something that will haunt him......but if Hillary wins and I feel like taking a trip to those darned casinos, I'll take you up on that drink. I'm not one to turn down a perfectly good invitation! Wink

Sorry for the confusion. These are not Obama quotes, they are from a news article I read. I quoted the article and then explained why he won't win.
