Looks like she's going back to the "weepy" well.

Oh, come on now, Yoss. That is NOT weepy. She pulled it together very quickly. She's a proud Mom - nothing wrong with that!

Hey now, don't go too far! Big Grin

But I do think she was sincerely moved when talking about Chelsea...and quickly got herself together too.

I think she choked up when she realized Chelsea was a better asset on the campaign trail than Bill.

Hi,

Come on you guys, there was nothing wrong with what she said. The truth is, she has a heck of a lot to be proud of. By all accounts, Chelsea has turned out to be a lovely young woman. They are obviously very close, and I can see why she'd get choked up.

Give Hillary a break already.

Hi,

Well it sounds like those of you who wanted to see Hillary exit the race will get your wish. Maybe even tonight. I bet by tomorrow Obama will make it official and we'll have a 2-person race. IMO things are going to get very interesting.

Have to say, I am not a big Hillary fan but I was pretty disappointed by how she was portrayed by "Father" Pfleger. I use the term "Father" loosely as there was certainly nothing in his speech last week that resembled any priest I've ever known. It made me sick to my stomach and quite frankly I am surprised there is not more backlash.

I think it will be a tight race in November. Anybody want to predict who they think will win? (regardless of who you want to win.....who do you THINK will be our next Prez?)

People who have lived in and around Chicago for the past twenty years have known Father Pflger for his rather "impulsive" and loud antics. He's passionate and sometimes demonstrates poor judgment - perhaps with his antics about Hillary from the UCC pulpit being one of his worst decisions. I agree that his portrayal was disrespectful although, if I'm being perfectly honest, I think there was some accuracy in his words. To a certain extent she thought this was signed, sealed, and delivered because she was entitled to the nomination (I don't think her disappointment/shock/dismay was about the fact that Obama happens to be black). He certainly didn't need to be so ridiculous in his dramatazation of his thoughts though.

As for the general election, I want to see who they pick as running mates before I make that call....

I'd agree with Amy that Hillary figured this thing was in the bag a couple of years ago and that she probably did feel that she was entitled. I don't think she's upset because a "black man stole it" from her, to use Pfleger's words.

I would suspect that she feels really betrayed by some on the left who she counted on. The Clintons have lived/depended/insisted upon unflinching loyalty for the last 15 years or so. I'm sure a lot of the defections came as a big bit#& slap to her.

I've never heard Pfleger speak before but I've heard of his crusades, and his disregard for authority. He's an embarrassing mouthpiece, even when you agree with his goal.

I'm also embarassed by/for the church congregation. With both the Wright and Pfleger speeches, you had roaring ovations to knucklehead/racist comments.

If our recent politics have shown me anything - it has shown me that I am not going to church anytime soon. And it has reaffirmed my decision to stop attending.

Hi,

Any possibility I had in getting my spouse to attend a Catholic church with me is now GONE. No, not because of the Pfleger thing. It's been a looonnng time coming. Before moving to Glen Ellyn, we knew people who were victims of a pedophile priest. The only thing worse than that was the way the the archdiocese tried to cover it up. And I don't mean 20 years ago.

On one hand we have some priests refusing to give Communion to someone who is openly gay. While at the same time we have the archdiocese covering up for pedophilia. Something is terribly wrong here.

Uh oh...this is threadjacking...sorry.

Okay I will hold off on my initial question until both candidates have chosen their running mates. I can't wait to see if Obama chooses Hillary (who BTW announced just today that she'd be open to the VP slot.) If that happens, we may need a new thread entitled "Put a fork in McCain as he's done."

Smile

coveted...do you really think obama/hillary is unstoppable? i think she's way too polarizing...and had she put her own fork in this a month ago obama could have started working on mccain.
as for fr. pfleger...while perhaps the messenger was out of control the mesaage (that hillary was "entitled and elitist" and racist...don't forget...she's the self-proclaimed candidate of "hard working WHITE voters...") was pretty on-target if you ask me. i've always felt she and bill had a deal dating from the earliest days of their marriage...i'll help you become pres. and then it's my turn. how else would you possibly get a wellesly/yale educated girl from chicago to go to little rock, for God's sake? (oh, and bill's legendary sex appeal...) what else would cause a woman to put up with the total lack of respect that cheatin' hounddog showed her? entitled, you bet your a**.
and the ONLY one who could have wrestled this away from her was someone as charasmatic and history making as Obama.
should be fireworks from here to november.
one last thought...been to st. pet's lately? at least fr. pfleger would keep you awake.....

Pfleger is a 20 year close friend and listed spiritual adviser to Obama.

Obama even steered over a quarter of a Million dollars of government funds directly into Pflegers church and received thousands of dollars in campaign contributions in return.

And nine thousand people at Trinity rose on their feet in a standing ovation at his near every word. As they had for Wright and even Farrakhan.

One wonders how much longer a person mentored by these individuals and a twenty year member of this same congregation can continue to "pretend".
