Far too many wears ago, Mad Magazine published “The Daily Optimist,” a pretend newspaper that reported only good, positive, happy news.

It was in the era when airlines were switching from propellers to jets, so one timely headline read, “Airline becomes nation's first all-jet carrier.”

After reading through the obligatory statements by the company president and PR flacks as to how pleased and proud they all were, blah blah blah, you got to the last paragraph... which explained that the airline became “all-jet” late last night when its last three propeller-driven aircraft collided in mid-air, killing 450 onboard and hundreds more on the ground.
