The current Tribune poll indicates that over 60% of respondants beleive Hillary's emotional display helped her. I hope she got some more tricks in her carpetbag.

Let's hope Blagojevich doesn't pull this from *his* bag of tricks.

His messianic complex is bad enough. If we add spontaneous emotional outpourings to his self-proclaimed testicular virility and obvious lack of intellectual capacity we'll have a weird mix of Tom Cruise, Elvis Presley, and George W Bush.

Yikes. And I voted for the goofball.

nh voters have a history of rejecting the iowa results. this seems a more likely reason for the clinton win than hillary's theatrical performance.

McCain had his daughter out on the trail. However, Chelsea is the only daughter who won't give an interview. I find this very odd. Giving interviews would help the Clinton campaign touch base with young voters.

Lastly, are we forgetting that it was the Clinton campaign that planted the energy question at the Iowa event? THE TEARS WERE ALL FOR SHOW! Her aides and advisors have been telling her for years that she needs to be portray herself as an ordinary person to make a political connection with the oridnary Joe and Joanne. Make me gag!

We're heading into a recession, it seems, according to the Wall St. Gurus. though I'm not so sure. A great way to ensure this, is tax increases. Brace yourself everyone. Between Hillary and her gang, Blago, and public education, we don't have a chance.

It's amazing what some people will do to get into the oval office.

Gus! We've missed you! Happy New Year!

Can't wait to vote Blago out. This is interesting too: Ed Week's State Report Cards

I'm hoping to host a gathering here. Gotta convince my husband that it's worth the effort. Smile Maybe by late spring we can do it so we can be both indoors and outdoors.

Mrs. Speechlady was so nice to open up her home - wish you could have come!

Mrs. Yoss and I have been thinking about a party for the GEBB, we've been targeting a Spring timeframe too. Amy-if your hubby is not up for it at your home, we could probably do it at our place.

Welcome back Gus! I for one missed you. How've you been? I still got a cold one waitng for you here at home. I even got a bottle of Mt. Gay Rum. Stop on by anytime.

Goldman came out Tues increasing odds of a recession, which they say will last a couple of quarters. Fed is predicted to cut rates even more, I hope soon will be a good time to refi. As far as raising taxes, you speak my mind exactly.

I keep checking my mailbox for that card from Clam. Must have gotten lost in the mail, yeah, that's the ticket.

Maybe if you had sent a picture of your sons, Gus would have responded. Wink

Dear Clam: sorry for the slight: Yes, a wonderful yule tide greeting card!
B-Boy, funny you mention Mt. Gay: visited this wonderful sight while down south over the holiday's. Be careful what you offer, might just come over without notice!

Finally, what do you think Mr. Putin, Sr. Bin Laden, Sr. Chavez, and all the other hard *** world leaders think of Hillary's tears???? They see an ignorant, spineless Bambi in a forest of carnivores, is my opinion.

If this is the best America can come up with we're in trouble.

So Gus, how do you really feel? Wink

I saw the display by Hillary as very calculated, not that it matters in my case, I would not vote for her anyway.

More importantly...I try and pick a candidate that doesn't make me cry.

With all due respect my friend, they think the same of Bush. Nothin'. Sort of like Carter. Except Reagan is dead and we have played our military hand in the Middle East. At least Reagan knew when to stop sacrificing American lives in Lebanon.

Ronkas: I hear you. But the issues in my heritage homeland are deep and anchored in it's troubled history. It is fact that Hamas perpetrated this bombing. Not sure what role the US should have really played here but by bailing on the situation, opened a power vacuum that you see today. Lebanon only exists on paper and the Druse (jumblatt), Christian, leaders are being assassinated 1 by one. And who supports Hamas?? What will be left? Many Christian and moderate Lebanese have fled their country for Europe and the US to live in countries that practice tolerance of religion and politics. I know many all over the world and can attest to this fact.

South Korea is a perfect model of nation building despite powerful forces trying to derail the process, mainly from a rabid communist China and USSR . Now tell me the difference between North and South Korea? Who embraced democracy and market economies vs. dictatorship/tyranny and state run economies? There are parallels between these 2 situations.

Lets hope and pray that the Iraqi people rise to the occasion and take advantage of the situation that the coalition partners has presented to them. Tribalism must go, thinking as a nation must be the rule. If they can figure that one out, God bless. If not, they have only themselves to blame.

Having just been to the Middle East, virtually all arabs agreed with the first gulf war, Desert Storm. They also agree with the coalition's actions in Afghanistan to rid the world of the Taliban and Bin Laden. Today in Iraq, a great many are angred with the current situation there now, however. They figure it was better to have the butcher of Baghdad in place instead of the current situation.

It seems in many places within the muslim world, a difference of opinion will cost one's life. Look at what happened to Bhutto. Instead of losing at the polls they lose at the barrel of a gun. Unfortunately, it takes a military man, despite his misgivings, like Musharraf and the military, to keep things in line. This is what held Irag together all these years. Once Hussein was gone, poof, anarchy. This is what I blame Bush and Rumsfeld for. Not to anticipate Iran's opportunities once Saddam was history, was a gross miscalculation.

However, to lump Bush Jr. in with the same crowd like Bill or Hillary Clinton is erroneous. Remember that Bill Clinton did nothing after 6 attacks on the US.
