I noticed recently that Joe Birkett is running for AG because he wants to continue being a prosecutor. Since my only contact with the AG was when I did work for the racehorse owners, the question comes to mind:

What prosecution does the AG do? Isn't it more of a civil litigation office?

(Crain's) — North Shore Congressman Mark Kirk has decided to run for the U.S. Senate, knowledgeable Republican sources are reporting. They said Mr. Kirk began making calls Wednesday morning as news emerged that the perceived front-runner on the Dem side, Attorney General Lisa Madigan, would seek re-election and not run for the Senate or governor.

I see Joe Birkett in a soup line soon.

Isn't it true that your dislike for Rahm stems not from his political leanings....but rather from that "incident" that occurred in your second year of law school? Isn't that true, Fan?

Why can't you let this stuff go?

Yeah Birkett was probably hoping that Madigan would try to promote herself to the Governor or Senators job.

Think Chris Kennedy is the Dems choice for Senate, Quinn will probably run for governor.

I think the Democrats could face a lot of problems.

1. Corrupttion
2. Higher Taxes
3. Weak Economy
4. Lack of an African American at the top.
5. No one to blame.

Don't forget his ner do well son and how he beat the rap.

If he's not adopted, I would pose some serious questions to my wife and the milk man.

And what about the DuPage county Prosecutor ( who reported to Joe) that killed herself going 80 and having a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit?

Joe should feel lucky he has his current job.

Rolando Cruz? The DuPage Seven?

My favorite Birkett incident was when a woman in Villa Park went missing a few years ago. It was on the 10 o'clock news for about 3-4 days, posters out on telephone poles, desperate family and friends pleading for the cameras.....

Turns out the coppers found her body in the first 24 hours after she went missing. In the trunk of her girlfriend's Mustang.

Birkett haughtily told the newsies that he isn't obligated to tell them anything.

Nice. I wonder if he told the family?

He is taking the oddest route up the political ladder that I have ever seen.

Actually Fan is off the hook, I posted it. Make sure if your going to take the shot, you get the right poster.

IMO-Public officials need to be held to higher standard. And if Joe can't keep his son & staff members in line why should I have confidence in his ability to be the state's AG?

Also, when your kids get older and are out and about on their own, you know that some very good parents' kids end up in the police blotter for doing some pretty stupid things.

The nicest parents in the world can still raise dirty, rotten, no-good kids.

Take, for example, Barbara and George H.W. Bush...

Our kids get arrested all the time for doing stupid things. You'd love to tell them, "Hey, if you're going to smoke weed...just hold one joint. And don't smoke it in a car on a fairly main thoroughfare...and if the man comes up to the car to bust you...kill the heat and swallow the roach." That's how smart we were as kids. Our kids are downright stupid when it comes to this stuff.

I'll never forget when a GW student would come and blaze every morning before class at the end of the block. Neighbor had had enough and called the police. Police set up a sting and nabbed him. He was easy to spot...he was the only dumb azz that A. actually carried a one hitter around with him and B. he was the only dumb azz that actually carried a one hitter that was florescent orange. Nothing like drawing attention to your drug paraphernalia. My guess is that he did not score a 31 on his ACT.

Just tonight there were two carloads of teens drinking vodka in the Glenbard West parking lot. Why they choose to drink there is beyond me. Because they seemed super stupid and many children play and ride bikes in that lot...I dialed 911. But they left before the police arrived. So here are two carloads of kids having consumed a bottle of Smirnoff Watermelon vodka...now driving around the narrow, twisty streets of Glen Ellyn. Time and a place for everything and that is not it.

So....if you have an '06 or so silver Mitsubishi Montero with your daughter behind the wheel with a young male friend or a late model darker colored Nissan Altima with three girls and a boy...your kids are about to test your umbrella policy. Have fun with all of that.

They do often seem to think they are invisible. One kid just mentioned he was nearby your house this evening - but not drinking watermelon vodka, etc. in the parking lot. Smile

Let's hope they had a DD. I do feel the kids now are more aware of drinking and driving than we were many moons ago.
