Yesterday evening the sign on my front lawn had been bent, so I straightened it up. This morning it was gone - torn off the metal frame. Walking the dog around the block, I noticed that the sole other house that had a sign for the same candidat, also bore a bare metal frame.

Curiously enough, the signs for the opposing candidate were untouched.

What immature pricks!

Note to self...avoid walking in front of Dinsdale's home for the next few days.

What part of "no" don't you understand?

We just put up our sign, and I'm worried it'll be stolen, so we got extra just in case. I truly hope it won't be, since there are so many other Obama signs this time (unlike past elections, when it seemed we were the only yard with the Democratic ticket's sign).

Still, you hate to see any sign stolen or defaced. It's just wrong and childish and unbefitting the gravity of the times.

Oh, I thought this thread was about the Minnesota Twins stealing signs at the Metrodome via video trickery.

Freedom of Speech is a big part of what makes this country great. What a bunch o' idiots for stealing your sign....apparently they don't appreciate the freedoms we are all given.

One of my signs was stolen 4 days after it went in. The odd thing is the second one was still there. I have extras of my like minded sign if anyone needs one. Smile. They come with electrical leaders to be wired to the electric main.

Sounds like kids. Can you put a spot light on the signs like the realty signs?

I guess democrats are stooping to new lows.
Me and a friend two blocks away had our signs stolen twice now within the past week.
On the second theft, my neighbor videotaped a small car (eco friendly import of course) stopping in front of his home between 3 and 4 in the morning and two people getting out of the car and stealing his 2 signs. Investigation underway, charges pending.
FYI, Anti theft measures ramped up at both homes now.
I will keep you posted.

My sister's Obama sign was torn out of her yard and ripped in half. I hope it's just kids being goofy. Maybe they're targetting people who don't give out good Halloween treats --- time to upgrade from Mary Janes and popcorn balls.

Unbelievable -these responses here! Candidate, this is incredible what is happening down by you. Your neighbor had very good reserve and discipline not to yell out the window or come tearing out the door after them. Man, I would have been all over those people, then felt bad for yelling at 3 in the morning where all my neighbors could have heard. Maybe I'll start walking my dogs in the middle of the night and stand out somewhere by some signs -waiting. Better yet-I have a sun room that faces 4 streets. I usually see on a normal day, wierd stuff all the time. Too bad nobody has signs by me.

Wow - I was thinking about going out of town over Halloween. Thank God I picked the week beforehand.

Several years ago signs from one local candidate were continually being stolen. As it turned out the culprit was a very well known local gentleman who did not want to see this candidate win. It was very embarrassing for the culprit when he was discovered.

I don't have any political signs in my yard (as of last check, we'd have to have one of each - though that might be an interesting experiment), but I empathize as I'm still pissed that our "W" flag was stolen and that happened at least 6-8 weeks ago.

Just about the time Zambrano started having shoulder problems. It's always the attorney's fault!

No, no no. Your blame is misplaced.

It was the bad karma unleashed by the flag stealer that caused the implosion. Not me - the mere victim.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

This is just wrong. It's not what democracy is about, and I hope they're caught.

Hey Candidate,
You don't know that it was any Democrat that stole the signs! Maybe it was someone who didn't want to pay for a McCain sign (since we all know what cheapskates they are Wink ) OR maybe it was a Green Party person....you never know. I certainly wouldn't steal anyone's sign and most Democrats I know wouldn't. Be nice and don't assume - you know what that does!

You know, I kind of don't get the whole presidenial yard sign thing at all.I can see the benefits of putting up signs for more local, small town candidates who need all of the publicity they can get, but the idea that you need to announce to your neighbors who you're picking for pres seems a bit too confrontational.
