I was throwing out the newspapers when I saw the section with Ms. Duckworth being given the job as head of the Illinois VA. And I noticed something, no wheelchair, she's sitting on some nice overstuffed chair. No election no wheelchair.
OK maybe a cheap shot. But from say February till November every picture of her was in a wheel chair. Now the election is done and no chair. I remember reading about Roosevelt and how he refused to have pictures of him taken in his, and how the press by and large respected that. Maybe an unfair comparison, and maybe it actually says more about the differences between now and then.
Did anybody see the documentary "Taking the Hill" on Discovery Times channel (Ch 305 on your WOW cable Box). It was about the 50 or so veterans who ran (only 1 was a Republican) against incumbent congressmen.
It was interesting since in a year when Democrats kicked serious A#@ in the House, only 4 veterans won a out of the 50 - 60 that ran. Duckworth was featured heavily and Roskam got about 30 seconds of air time. The debate at COD was shown as was Dick Durbin and Rahm Emmanuel. It was like an upaid 1 hour advertisement for the DNC.
The American War hero Max Cleland was shown campaigning with a guy named Massa from New York. The guy was begging for funds from Rahm and the DCCC and Rahm did not give him anything. He lost to the incumbent by 1%.
It was interesting. I would like to see them give this much positive spin and time to 50 congressional Republicans.
Didn't catch that program. Did see where Barr-Topinka was given a nice RTA commissioner gig though. So, as far as tit-for-tat patronage baloney, looks like Dems=GOP here.
