Old like this "19" year-old?

Old like this "little leaguer?"

Old like this rooster which smoked little Jerry?

Um...Saturday, Village Green...on Lambert Road...10 A.M. Playing Wheaton I believe. I'm certain everyone will be there to root for the Badgers. Won't you?

Let me know how many seats I'll need to have set aside.

Just a tip - Try to incorporate the phrase "GIT-R-DONE" into your pep talk. It'll pretty much guarantee a victory. You can thank me later.

Thanks to all of you that came out Saturday. It was really amazing. And thank you for presenting me with that award after the game.

And what a game,

Glen Ellyn 4
Wheaton 3 (2...if you take the last second goal they "scored" while sleeping in the crease. Referee missed that one.)

We smothered them on defense...which is really the way you win this game. Our kids seem to be especially hard hitters.

On to the tournament weeknd on June 2. I'll let you know when and where we play because I know many of you will once again want to attend.

Oh man, that was a close one! You have to give Duke kudos the way they fought back. Great game but more importantly, another championship for the Bluejays! The new championship shirts are already ordered and will arrive soon!

My BIL...the JHU alum...and coming from a very prominent Chicago lax family (I'll bet you never thought there was one of those), has to be happy tonight. Although he's never happy until someone is bleeding...i.e., the score was 20-6.

Very cleanly played game on both sides. That game was 8 inches fom going into overtime.

Speaking of ending the season, I can't wait to post the location and time of the championship weekend game(s) on Saturday. It will be fun to see all of you out there again! Please...no battery throwing this time.

Wow....nice. We get to play in Summit...at Argo High School. I'll be stunned if I can field a team. Arten and Yoss...can either of you pass for an 11 year-old? How about you Shore Thing?

I'll get you all the directions in a little while.

Oh, first game is at 10 AM. I suppose you'll want to get there early to secure good seats. Keep in mind that if we make it to the Championship game...you'll be there until 2PM. So....planned accordingly. It will be great to see you all there.

Nothing like a Saturday Morning in Summit.......I will make sure to bring my bullet proof vest......We played baseball there back in '89 when I was in High School....We beat Argo, we had to run onto the bus before we got hit with rocks.....Three windows were busted on the bus as we drove out of there.....

Well, I'm about as tall as an 11 year old (5'8"), but my gray would give me away. Frown

Thank you for your inquiry. You have a right to know what happened to your town's 5-6 grade lacrosse team and I shall tell you.

We played Oak Brook in game one. It was a bit of a sticky and uncomfortable situation as the young man from Lacrosse America that co-coached the team with me, Peter Hamm, was also the sole coach of the Oak Brook team. So he had to coach them...against us. I insisted that he explain to the boys on our team what they would find when they got to the field ahead of time so it wouldn't surprise them. We completely dominated the game...but shot everything 12 inches wide on both sides of the net. Nonetheless, my coaching skills brought us a 3-2 victory over Peter and his band of Oak Brook goons. Score should have been 10-2. Guess it doesn't matter.

Game two saw Peter rejoining us on the sidelines with no hard feelings. We played a Naperville squad that was very skilled in the art of passing and moving the ball around. In the end they beat us 5-3. We had many more shots on goal...but our lads were not taking good shots. More like playing catch with the goalie who wasn't falling for any of dat.

Naperville played Hinsdale in the championship game. Sour grapes made me not give a crap about the outcome and we headed home up I-55 with tear-stained cheeks.

So...final overall record was 5-3. Which isn't bad. I didn't have the heart to tell Peter that I was 4-0 coaching the team on my own. 1-3 when he was there. OK...I did tell him. He really is an excellent player and a great teacher and the kids benefitted having him as a coach.

Probably time to retire with a winning record. We'll see.

Also...for those interested...Lacrosse America has a summer box lacrosse league that starts Monday the 11th in Darien at the Sportsplex. Cost is $75 and games are played on Monday nights at either 6 or 7 pm. Go to www.lacrosseamerica.com for details and to sign up.

Again, Fish, thank you for your interest.
