Not trying to be difficult but there are likely some future Glenbard South boys on those teams too.

Not to rain on your parade Irish, but 5 years ago the Golden Eagles Varsity team went to the final playoff game too...lost to one of the evil Wheaton teams by I think 1 point or so in the last few seconds. We also all thought this class was destined for GW football glory. Most of the kids on that team graduated last year (they were the ones with the 1 and 8 record).

Much like the disclaimer on investments, "Past performance is no guarantee of future returns." Having said that, I can tell you that most of the boys on the Gold 130 team as 8th graders - this year's juniors - are still playing at West or South. Many were Varsity starters this year, too. Looking over West's Roster, about 20 of West's juniors played Eagles football that year - a few were on the Eagles Varsity team. That was back when Tri-Cities were in Bill George - very tough to get past!

Agnes - What a difference a year - and new coaches will make! Smile

Is this comment more of an endorsement of the current coaches or a slam of the old ones? Because again, I have opinions on this topic. Big Grin

Actually, I don't believe this is the 4th year in a row for the 100# because there no playoffs or superbowl games for 70# so it would have to be their 3rd year in a row. FWIW, one of the 100# Silver teams has also made it to the playoffs 3 years in a row and played in the superbowl last year.

Gee whiz - this topic is a minefield! Let me just say that this group of hard-working kids have really taken to the new program and its leadership. Razz

I am so glad I have no idea what any of you are talking about.

Talking about teams and coaches will only get you in trouble.

Heed my warning!

In trouble or harassed?

Glen Ellyn One Commandment
1. Thou shall not publicly question the play calling in any Glen Ellyn sport. Thou shall do so in private...behind ones back.

Both! Also, sometimes other stuff changes...some of the kids go to South or Catholic schools, kids get injured, they move, they switch their interests, or whatever. You just can't count on a great grade school team necessarily translating into a great high school group. By the same token, a mediocre grade school squad can mature into a decent high school team.

AQ - formerly known as JRPotts - I'm with Clam. You don't want to become the reason for the introduction to the lexicon and usage of the term "young duffer." Wink

Re: Bill George Football - If you don't know Bob Gibson, coach of the Gold 115# team, you should. He is an all-around personable, community-minded guy. Even more fun is listening to his "Bahston accent." Very entertaining to this flatlander.

GEMom2 - You're not with Clam. You haven't picked up on his not so thinly veiled sarcasm...and not so thinly veiled reference to a certain e-mail I received from someone.

And for the record, I've always been for the kids and even for its leadership....and even today....I'm still for the kids.

So noted. For future reference, when uncertain, please reread Commandment #1.

So it's true - Big Brother is really watching?!

Really, though, can't people agree to disagree sometimes? Confused

You would think. It never ceases to amaze me how some people can be so totally intolerant of differing views and opinions.

There are some on this site whom I consider to be good friends...and more often than not, we disagree on most everything.

Anyone can stand with you when you agree. A friend stands with you when you disagree - just read that the other day and I don't recall the source, but did like the message.

I 100% disagree with 99% of everything the ACQ says and stands for. But I stand by him nonetheless. On the flip side...he would kill me or have me killed for a Snickers bar. And probably a Fun Size one at that.

My guess is that phrase came from the Reader's Digest, GEM2.
