The new diner thread got me thinking… What are some of your favorite regional cusines? Or what are some of your favorite restaurants when you travel?

I love…

BBQ in Memphis
Crawfish Etouffee in Louisiana
Fish Tacos in Southern California
Salmon & Halibut in Alaska

I Always Eat At…

Jacque Imo's in New Orleans

Sushi Studio in Long Beach, CA

Bates House of Turkey (really) in Greenville, AL

Waterfront Seafood Grill in Seattle, WA

Dreamland BBQ in Tuscaloosa, AL

Fan, you and I would travel well together! My Mother saw my list and suggested that I might have been switched at birth with another child.

I want to open a fish taco place here, but MRS. Perplexed says NO.

The way I look at it, Chipotle sucks (tastes pretty good but HORRIBLE for you), Q'dobo (spelling disaster) is worse and Taco Fresco is even worse than that. There is certainly a market for a healthy, tasty alternative to these places...especially one featuring fish tacos.

The best I have found is Baja Fresh and that's not saying much.

Let me know if Wahoo ever changes their mind, you might need a partner Smile

Hi,

I just had to weigh in on this one. Since the Coveted's are both from a coast, most of our faves are seafood related.

Santa Monica, CA: The Lobster (used to be tiny, practically a trailer. Now it's all blinged-out, but still good).

San Clemente, CA: Taka-O Sushi on PCH.

And Back east....

Westport, MA: The Back Eddy (www.thebackeddy.com) Great views, excellent food.

Boston, MA: Regina's Pizza (the original, very thin crust) located in the North End.

Yum Yum.

Grouper in Long Boat Key. I'll get back to you on the names of restaurants.

How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls Swimming in a fish bowl, Year after year,
Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here.

I like taverns. So these are my favorites.

Kelly's Restaurant, Long Beach CA (Naples' finest steakhouse and bar)
Harbor House, Sunset Beach (Breakfast)

Tufano's Chicago (Italian)
Hofbrauhaus, Hilton Head (Bartender remembered us one year after our first visit. Must be the blond. Can't be me)

Had enough of the snow and went to Houston for the first time. 72 degrees and brunch at this place on the front patio

Backstreet

or breakfast here

Barnaby's Baby

Never thought I would like Houston. Even if the traffic is the worst I've seen in a while.
