Any suggestions on Midwest skiing? It's a nice snow and a three day weekend, easily made into four.
Really curious about the Michigan side, I've been to everything close + the Wisconsin edge of the UP but have never hit Michigan proper. Does anyone know off the top of their head which is considered the most challenging? |

We'll be at Swiss Valley this weekend. Nothing great, but it's close to our place out there. It's been a long time since I've been to Wilmot or Devils Head, but my recollection is that Swiss Valley is similar to those places. Swiss Valley I am a dyslexic agnostic insomniac. I lay awake at night wondering if there is a dog. |

If you still want to try somewhere different in Wisconsin, try Granite Peak (Rib Mountain) in Wausau. They just added and re-configured all the runs, restored the 1930's lodge, etc... We had a GREAT time up there last year and it is only 4 hours away. Pretty steep runs too. Granite Peak |

Swiss Valley looks like it could be fun, but Granite Peak looks really impressive for being within only four hours.
I stumbled across this one which just opened in 2000, looks really tempting. It's a tad on the far side, but easily reached by dinner after a half day working - so very doable for a quick weekend. Mount Bohemia, looks really tempting.

My favorites:
Boyne Highlands in Harbor Springs, Michigan Boyne Mountain in Boyne City, Michigan Shanty Creek in Belaire, Michigan All are north of Traverse City. Count on a 6 to 8 hour drive, but it's beautiful up there year round. Boyne Mountain recently built a new Lodge and spa that looks quite nice. http://www.mountaingrandlodge.com/ I've heard very good things about Granite Peak as well. |

We're about 45 minutes north of Rib Mountain. We pass it every time we go up north. IIRC, when Tony was in 8th grade, Hadley made the trip up there with the kids. I don't know if they still do. |
