And I am not talking about the Great Western Trail or the Prairie Path. Not that those are bad trails, but I am talking about more difficult mountain bike trails that you don't bring the kids to.
Anyone know of any in the area?

There is also Waterfall Glen over by Argonne. Take 55 East/South/Whatever to Cass heading south about a mile or so. Come to a bend in the road and there will be a place to park. Not sure how patrolled they are these days, but the inner single track used to be fun. Waterfall Glen...

I have never heard of this place before, but this is perfect. I have been to Waterfall Glen and I know they are pretty strict there if you go off the main trail.
Thanks for the info.

Park in the lot by the tobbogan runs, sling your bike over your shoulder and take the stairs. Have at it from that point. I have nearly killed myself a million times at Palos. Lots of fun for my riding mates to witness.

kudos to whatever entity is responsible for maintaining the Prairie Path! After last week's rains there were many sections really ripped up and incredibly dangerous, particularly west of County Farm Road. Went out today and everything has been beautifully groomed and made safe again for biking!

I've seen those runs -which are now in ruins. How old were you when you did this?
How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls Swimming in a fish bowl, Year after year, Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here.

The DuPage County Division of Transportation is responsible for all IPP resurfacing, signage, paving the entry skirts where it meets streets, in DuPage Co. The Illinois Prairie Path not-for-profit Corporation (a member group) has installed/repaired many amenities such as water fountains, benches, mile markers, and handles the coordination of the annual Earth Day cleanup. This message has been edited.
