Couldn't resist posting the details of an e-mail that crossed my desk. It seems a prominent SB41 member who railed at an anti referendum e-mail that was sent out has a husband that sent out an e-mail to prominent local businessmen to:
"remember to vote for the other woman on the ballot for the D41 SB:" It goes on to say, "We DO NOT want to vote for either of the men on the ballot. Their sole purpose for running revolves around defeating the referendum; they are bringing nothing else to the table (regardless of what you think of the referendum). We must remember that these are two separate issues. We want the best candidates for the board and the two gentlemen are DEFINITELY NOT good for the Board. If you have any questions about the referendum, please feel free to call our house. We would be glad to answer any questions." I wonder whom this gentlemen is referring to? Could this animosity in a household carry lasting affects on Board decisions? Now I really know we have elected the right people to the Board. I hope we can continue the tradition next cycle. |

Your e-mail reminds me of a story I heard directly from the source to whom it happened. Those canvassing the area for support of the ref and when it was determined that the homeowner was not interested, giving a pitch to at least vote for the women on the ballot. It would be interesting to know if the person canvassing was associated with the pro-committee. That would seem to clearly be a partisan activity, and not allowed if the committee accepted money from PTAs.

Thank you to the three individuals who do not post on this board for e-mailing it to me. That e-mail is interesting on many levels. My favorite part though:
First, I really don't get the separate issues. However, assming that the election and the referendum are two separate issues...I thought they were two SEPARATE issues? Plus, it was my impression that the Vondrak and Solak candidacies were concurrent with the referendum. How would their attempt to get elected AFTER the referendum vote be concurrent with a platform to defeat the referendum? I don't get it. I remember them both running on a platform of fiscal responsibility... |
