Interviewer: So, Ronkas, in your role as "Paper Towel" you did an excellent job of helping the audience feel your quilted-ness. Obviously, you were playing one of the most famous paper towels of all, Bounty. What techniques and tools did you use to learn what it was like to BE Bounty?
ronkas: Well, I read the autobiography, "My life in kitchens." I found Bounty's story to be inspiring. Finding a place where one can show quilted-ness requires great concentration. I also had to eat a lot of pancakes and marshmallows...

Okay, Our oldest starts kindergarten this fall and is the first of the DTM clan to attend D 41. I already can tell this is going to be a battle.
Issue #1 School Supply list
For crying out loud, why do they have to be so damn specific? I can't find Prange oval water colors...they only come with glitter in them! Is that a problem?
Issue #2 School pictures
Since when did school pictures get taken BEFORE school starts?? We are on vacation up to the day before school starts. If they don't have a picture makeup day then my son's face will not be there...
Picture day is such a major orchestration that before school is definitely better. And they will do an official re-take day so don't worry. The mug shots are for the kids that move in later and they missed re-take day - gotta love that!
By the way, I get a little irritated by the supply lists too but I can tell you from a former Art Teacher's perspective, that Prang watercolors are far superior to any other brand. Better color saturation, they last longer, they just make a better result which WILL matter to your cute little one. I'm kind of suprised you are having such a hard time finding the watercolors....did you go to Target? They used to carry them. Hobby Lobby probably has them but it's kind of a pain to go to ANOTHER place!

I think I've posted it before, but I hit my limit when in middle school my kid was instructed to bring 5 or so folders, each of different specific colors. I grabbed 5 manilla folders and a black marker, wrote "RED" on one and said "There's your d@mned red folder" ...
In elementary it used to piss me off when we'd buy our kids a decent pair of scissors, a nice box of crayons, or something, and they'd just toss them all in a bowl for common usage, so our kid never got to use the ones we bought them or learn about maintaining their own supplies.
I do agree it is important to teach your child about sharing but I agree with Dinsdale. I would want my child to be using the school supplies that he picked out. That is special to a child! Not sure how it all works yet, my oldest is just starting kindergarten.
Our elementary (not in GE) has the kids label all their items (except tissue boxes..) and keep them in their own desk. I think in Kindergarten, when they had tables and not desks, they put supplies in a common area, but I'm pretty sure they still used their own stuff.
My comment was aimed more at the issue with different colored folders.
