Meow! What board member called another idiotic in the newspaper? Bowls of milk anyone?
Hmmm. Let's talk about buying a new car, just in case we need it one day. We gotta have the car! Or the big screen TV! It might go on sale!!!!!
Let's take up our time talking about doing this. Let's not talk about the roof leaking, or the basement leaking. Let's not talk about crafting a plan to pay down the second mortgage we got with a false loan application. That would be idiotic. Let's find that pie in the sky!

Idiotic? When two other board members thought the motion had merit? If I recall, the vote was 3-4, not 1-6. Interesting that the article doesn't mention that.
A quote from Jack while campaigning:
quote:
I believe the Board of Education must set a higher standard and a clear direction for academic excellence, transparency and sound management of community resources. The Board must challenge the administration to manage as well as they educate, focus on delivering maximum value for our educational dollar, and eliminate diversions from their academic mission.I will always strive to represent the community's best interests by promoting this standard.
I voted for Jack for a reason and at least he remains true to his word.
Calling your fellow board member's idea "idiotic" is cheap. Kind of like choosing to plant a 4x5 yard sign directy facing your opponents home, rather than against the grain of oncoming traffic whereby it would receive maximum exposure.
The future of D41 is declining enrollment, lower revenue from Real Estate taxes and increasing pension and health care costs. That is the future Ms. Howard.
Was Ms. Howard the only school board member who voted against Kahler's idea? ANY board member who thinks we should be buying up land instead of dealing with the upcoming deficit is dead wrong. I sure hope I didn't vote for any of the 4 who voted to continue down this path.
