The district web-site now has posted the
agenda for the special meeting on Wednesday, June 20 beginning at 3:30 p.m. The agenda is somewhat vague in that the one item of business is the board workshop facilitated by Carol Stream District 93 Superintendent Dr. Hank Gmitro. The workshop will focus on new board member orientation and "future planning." If I were a betting person, I would bet that this is the umbrella item under which the referendum discussion will finally be held. While it is nice that the board may finally have a discussion, it would have been nicer to have it during a regular board meeting at the more convenient evening time frame.
This is not a new phenomenon to have a workshop of this nature. And I do understand that coordinating 7 volunteers' schedules must be tricky. If you take a look at previous retreat/workshops, the last two years' have been held on weekend mornings.
Here is last year's
agenda from the meeting on Sunday, July 2 and here are the
minutes from that meeting. In hindsight, as I read those minutes and saw that there was a discussion of facilities/referenda and improving the Hadley experience, I thought it would have been nice to attend that all so conveniently scheduled meeting.
So I guess what I'm saying is, the meeting on Wednesday could have some interesting discussion to hear.
